Unless they change their mind I severely doubt it.

Richard was rather quite adamant when I spoke to him at Phillip Island that they would not be making any Camero's.....I know one member who'd really love a yellow one with #31 on it....:D

Is a Historic 07 still going to be made this year?

It will be interesting as they're not longer 'historics' in the technical sense anymore with the new freedoms that have been allowed under the new Touring Car Masters regulations....

I hope Biante do continue this range for those whom have been collecting them, as I think it was a good way to heighten interest in the series of which they sponsor.

I dont think a first commodore modelled will be a historic!

80's cars have no relevance at all to this series so I don't think it will be one of them.

It seems that anything can race in the series, irrespective of whether it was raced in the day or not...so expect anything...

An EH would be nice, but as the tooling for a 1:18 doesn't exist, I doubt it...

My money's also on a mini or cortina...

We have seen a Mini entered by Glenn Ridge at Adeliade, i think it was a no show though. The Porsche's look good on the track. Have'nt seen a Cortina this year in the series, or a EH, doubt we will with the new regs for the series. A 2 Monaro may be the go ;)

A little left-field..............what about an Alfa 1750 Bertone GTV......were quick cars at Bathurst in the late 60's but didn't have the grunt of the V8's, are a good handling car even now. AutoArt make a nice model of it in 1:18 already.....

A fantastic idea. My Father owned one. What an Engine, the sound & noise was absolutely fantastic. The only thing was, it was very expensive to keep on the Road. My Father said "I think I'm funding Ray Gulson's motor racing". At the time Ray Gulson was the sole Alfa dealership outside Sydney & as a result his prices were always on the higher side.

My dad recently sold his 2000GTV Bertone, a great little car, but as you say it was a bit pricey to keep going. He rebuilt the gearbox, suspension and brakes, but the motor was very strong and the body & interior were in great nick. Rust is a major killer of those cars, his was very sound. I found it too fragile to use as an every day car, but as a sunny weekend sports car it was great fun. Mike

While the Alfa is a great car and having some good results to date in Group N, i don't think we'll see one running in the revamped Biante series. Spencer Rice's example is a beuaty though and very quick...

This not long ago appeared on the Biante website (http://www.biante.com.au/product_19369.htm)

....2007 Biante Touring Car Masters model.

As with previous years in 2007 Biante will be producing a special model for the Biante Touring Car Masters series.

With rule changes coming in this year, competitors are now able to race Ford XA Falcon hardtops. It's fitting that with this change the 2007 BTCM model is going to be an XA hardtop.

This model will be produced in Quicksilver with no body paintouts and will include the traditional Biante windscreen banner along with the BTCM logo on the front qtr panels.

The model will feature full race engine, exhaust, and interior and will run with Minilite wheels.
Production will be limited to 2007 units and the model is due to arrive in September....

This sounds really good, particularly as it will appear as a race car. One question though, will it still have the number "07" on the door? The above quotes implies that maybe it won't....

Richard Poole
20-06-2007, 11:54 AM
Yes it will. It'll have the series official door panel with the Biante logo at the top.

The main reason we went for the XA is the fact that it's the first year the car has been allowed to run (there are a few considering changing over to XA's from Mustangs apparently). At the moment Ford and Holden guys that want to race at the front only have Mustangs and Camaro's to turn to (granted, the Tilley's have done well in their XY). With the addition of the XA they can go for some Aussie cars in the Monaro and hardtop.

In terms of a Cortina or Porsche past experience has shown that if it isn't a Torana/Monaro or Falcon people aren't that interested.

Have to maybe alter my plans a smidgeon.....Just browsing on the Competitions site & found some interesting bits...Black RPO XAGT 2 Dr appears to have got the chop, Moffat GTHO Ph IV also seems to have fallen off the list and an XAGT RPO83 Red Pepper Sedan added as well as the XAGT Superbird Silver Showcar !! If it comes to fruition that saves me at least one "Ground up Rebuild"..... (I note the small photo shows the projected model to have Orange seat facings but my info is that they were a mid grey color in wool....but I can sure fix it if that is how it ends up !!). Must away & organise in some more Storage/Display space ! :D:D

"One feature exclusive to the motorshow Superbird was the rough wool upholstery and pale grey rooflining"

After searching Google most photos appear to show orange wool inserts matching the superbird logo on the side of the car. The rest of the seats are grey.
