The first time i remember Billy Thorpe was when he sang the national anthem at Bathurst in 97 (the real one, the V8's).

I have grown up with Billy Thorpe. Like Brocky was to motor racing, he was an institution in the Australian rock scene. I saw the Aztecs live at Sunbury in 1973 among other venues and being a drummer, the Aztecs Gil Matthews still has one of the best drum solo's I have ever heard.
