Just returned from a visit to Dick Johnsons Museum in Queensland.
On display was a sample of the 1:32 scale Jim Beam Racing B Double Transporter.
Pre orders are being taken, cost is around $150.00 -$155.00 plus postage.
If Dick can arrange to have this model made then why can't the bigger teams get it produced.
I placed an order for 2 Models which were guarenteed.
I have a photo but don't know how to attach to this, sorry.

Interesting that Dick's still got a Volvo pulling it.......considering Volvo withdrew their sponsorship of DJR when they signed Jim Beam (N.B. Volvo won't sponsor teams sponsored by liquor companies)

They may not sponsor them, but DJR still own the truck they provided;) No point buying a new truck if a new company isn't going to supply one free;)

I would be surprised if they would have ever owned their track to start with....I wonder if Dick will still use Volvo Penta's in his boats......???

Well I have been told that the Jim Beam deal is simmilar to the Jack Daniels deal of Larrikan Larry;
No coin upfront, but all the money has to be made in selling merchandise!!
If this is true, then it is one hell of a deal, (ahem)
Hopefully it will work out very well for DJ and LP in this.

Find that alittle hard to believe, sure merchendise is goooood money but for a team like DJR that was oh so close to going under, they would have needed some form of payment to kick the season off.

The deal I heard was that :

JDR - Larry gets money from JD however JD retain the rights to merchandise and JD get revenue from it.

DJR - Dick gets less money upfront from JB but Dick also gets rights and revenue from merchandise.

As far as I can tell I think Larry stuffed up on negotiating the deal with JD as from what I understand the JD merchandise is one of the biggest sellers.

The JD merchandise is also hideously expensive. Wifey got a JD jumper but I can't justify buying anything else.

If you think about it:
It could be said that the world is upside/inside out when you have to pay to wear a shirt displaying an advertisment for a consumable.
They should pay YOU! for playing billboard.

I have no problem with buying merchandise to support my favourite teams. I just refuse to pay ridiculous money for it. ;)

Thats why i always get last season's gear or wait till near the end of the season when they try and sell it cheaper to make for the new season's stock.

Back to the truck's i couldnt see there being a huge demand for them, unless people are going be doing diorama's or the like. Could be a few truckers might get one at some stage.

I must admit, I've been thinking long & hard about this item & I think I will not bother as it's an odd ball scale to fit in with the rest of my collection of 1/43's & 1/18's....
