howdy,

as a young lad of 17, im currently ownign a 1980 ford escort coupe, 2 lt, with a 5 speed sierra box, so its quite the nice car, very clean car, in good condition. HOWEVER! i just found this out today, so im VERY excited/happy! my parent gavce my older sister a fair bit of money to buy her first car, as she had no money at the time coz she had no job..... so the point is, my parent beleive what you do for one chicld, you do for the other! so when i turn 18 i get a nice little sum of money, plus what i have saved myself, to buy myself a car! so im looking at buying a '67 mustang to work on and get roadworthy in time to get off my P- plates! i know this sounds liek bragging, and im sorry, but im pretty pumped about it!

We have an '89 EA Falcon wagon. We had to upsize from our loved XF EFI S-Pack sedan to fit in the baby stuff that 3 kids necessitate, or at least that the 1-month-old does.
The EA is just a GL with the usual fruit: air, auto, steer plus front bench to allow 6 seats. It was originally an 8-seater, but we sold the jump-seat for the room.
She's a 3.9 litre 6 with throttle-body EFI, which puts her below the XF EFI (multi-point) for performance, but above the 4.1 carby 6 XF which preceded that.
The payoff is in economy: 21 mpg around town (treated gently) & 26-27 mpg highway use. Our best is 27.5 mpg on a Canberra-Syd-Cbr day-trip, including 2 hours stuck in a Sydney "Freeway" traffic-jam.

In Australia I have an 87 XF Falcon, however, it has not been run for some time so is going to need some attention when I finally get back there.

In Bangkok I drive a Honda City (which is just a little smaller than a Civic). As a small car it is great in Bangkok traffic (when people decide to make a 3 lane road into five lanes due to impatience and pushiness, you don't want anything too wide).

HZ 1 Tunna, have you considered putting a v8 in your UC? I used to have a UC with a V8 and it goes in pretty easy (particularly if you are going from a 6 to an 8, the conversion of a 4 to an 8 can be tricky depending which 4 it has).

1986 XF Fairmont, Silver, straight gas, super low, the work bus for me.
1967 XR Falcon, Violet metalflake, 250 2V top loader, Full Fairmont trim, low, sits in the garage because i'm to slack to finish it.
1994 EDXR6, Cobolt Blue, 5 speed, dead stock, the boss gets this one to drive.

Ive got an 89 EA Falcon, its lowered about 2 inches all round by Pedders and it has a Genie 2.5 inch exhaust from the cat back.
Its in absolute mint condition, one of the better cared for EA's on the road, the bumpers dont even hang off it :). Ive just put in a JVC MP3 player and some decent speakers.
I sold my other car a little while ago, a canary yellow XC GS Panelvan with a 302 and toploader with all the fruit. I miss it, but i dont miss the running costs, anyways a mortgage and one car rego is enuff for me. :)

Right On DG. We actually got our EA 2 years ago for the princely sum of $2450-00 as it had only 1-month rego & a noisy heater-fan-motor. It's still noisy, but the car's good.

ok, kinda off topic here, but seeing as everyone is tlaking about real cars instead of models.... can anyone tell me why it is so hard to find a late model falcon (namely EA-EL), with a manual box??? what the deal with a manual box being so hard to find? i was looking through the traidng post the other day, and they virtually all autos! can anyone explain this to me?

I'm living in Canada at the moment and own a 1976 Ford F-250 .It has a 390 ci and auto tranny. She is not a bad old truck ,goes like stink ,and guzzles the juice( about 11/12 mpg).Thank god fuel here is only 75 cents a litre.
Its awesome driving around here ,so different from Oz,just seeing all the great muscle cars and big pickup trucks everywhere.North America sure has a great selection of old and new vehicles to choose from.
But as a diehard Aussie that i am , my true love is a Phase 3 GTHO.I would sure love to own one.(well i do own a few , thing is they are 1:18 and 1:43 scale)Maybe oneday...........
I found an interesting site the other day regarding Americans importing Aussie Holdens and Fords.

Daily drive is an imported red 93 Mazda MX6 2.5 V6. Totally standard.
My toy is a 1990 VN SS - Atlas Grey. Group A bumpers and grille, 17 inch Clubsport 5 spoke alloys, cold air intake, K & N, Momo wheel, white dials, VS SS interior and soon to have new springs, shocks and swaybar to make it handle a bit better. The old FE2 is not up to the task.

EL XR8 185 kw, 4spd auto, tickford body kit & wheels, white, all stock standard so far. Got a great deal on it too. Old guy owned it for a couple of years & must of used it to go to the shop & back, only had 3300 k's on the clock. Picked it up for a steal. Would of loved a 5 spd but I'm not complaining

I've got a 1995 VS SS with standard 304 ci efi V8. It's Botanica Mica (that metallic green/blue color) with four speed auto and IRS.
As I type this the factory cast iron exhaust manifold is being trashed and its getting a set of extractors and a three inch single system fitted so it should breath (and sound) a bit better.
The only other modifications are cosmetic stuff such as replacing the side repeater lights from those square/orange ones to the clear/oval lenses off a VT/VX and I peeled the original SS stickers off and replaced them with the chrome plastic SS badges from a VX SS.

Own a 66 silver frost "A" code Mustang, pretty much original with A/C, P/S, 289 4V, C4, Bench seat, Rally pack and 8 Track/Am Radio.

We also have the 71 XY GS Fairmont, with worked 302w, TL and 9 Inch. Original bronze wine in colour.

Family hack is a Series II EB with tickford wheels.

Have owned a AUII XR6 which was a work lease car.

Also owned a XD Fairmont Ghia with a worked 351, FMX and 9 inch. This was a very tough car, which sat very low and have beefy 12 slots.

Got me a 1968 HK GTS Monaro,

spent $50K+ over 6 years (450hp 383 Chev- 5 sp Tremec TKO-9" spooled) full original inside out but runs on 7x18 & 11x18 Simmons.Hope to run it at the Creek soon! (mid 12s ?)
but even if it doesnt run a good # it still does great wheelies!

Can someone tell me how I can get my burnout footage on the net as I have taken videos of it frying the tyres but have limited computer knowledge? (Camera is a Panasonic Digital Video one?)

Ford Boy, I think it's something to do with the demographic of NEW Falcon buyers - somewhere around the 55 mark, from memory, who obviously go more for autos. You're right, manual late-model Falcs are very hard to come by. In our case, that worked for us, as my wife took a fall in our backyard & dislocated her left knee so badly that she was lucky to escape an operation & just couldn't handle the clutch on our 4-speed XF.

My baby is an XY-GT. She is a Track Red 4-speed with gold stripes. The wheels are 5 slots with redwall tyres. The car is completely standard apart from a few internal engine mods such as forged pistons, motorsport cam, roller rockers and a bit of head work.It still has the original autolite distributor, coil and colour coded vacuum hoses. It also has genuine phase 3 extractors and a buddy-bar manifold along with the a.m. superfringe pushbutton radio.

My first car was a Banana Blush XB falcon. It was a 250 4-speed.It was'nt long before I put on a 2v head, then I wanted a bit more power so in went a 302. The colour was changed to Midnight Blue as well as the engine changed to a 351 and a toploader and 9 inch installed.

Other cars I've owned include an XM ute, ZD Fairlane, XF ute, VR s-pack ute, VN Commodore(my daily driver) and a TE Magna.

some of the work done to it, include a Mark Skaife nice smelling thingy hanging from the rear view mirror.

Walkinshaw wheels lowerd so it looks sleek.

A good alarm system to keep it safe, lost my 95 VK calais while I was out watching a movie, & it never came home, so I thought this was a good idea.

G'day Wheels,
I've got an ex-police VR V6 with the go-fast chips and trick suspension (which is a real pain in the a--- if you want to insure it because no one wants to insure an ex cop-car for some reason, so I've neglected to tell them now) and a Devil Yellow Monaro CV8 which I got at Easter and had on display with the Vic Monaro Club at Sandown last week-end. Don't laugh but our every-day good-old-reliable shopping car is a Datusn Bluebird. I wouldn't swap it for the world (but maybe a CC NZ Brock).

Hi all, Over the years i have had a lot of performance cars. When i was 18 my old man said you are not bloody buying a V8. So i thought what can i do. I was wanting something fast so i bought a RX4 (rice burner). After the old man got sick of the noise I decided to sell the rice burner but he still didnt want me to have a V8. So I bought a VL Calais Turbo. Boosted it Lowered it put a roll cage in and then it got pinched. After that i said stuff it and bought a VH SLE 5.0 put simmons on it lowered it worked the motor and then sold it because it didnt go as fast as the VL. I then bought myself a VN Calais 5.0 manual which did go faster than the VH but still not as quick as the VL so i didnt keep it for long. I decided to by a VR SS which was a big mistake cause the bloody thing just wouldnt go (what a **** box). Now i am the happy owner of a VX Clubsport R8 and can honestly say it has been the quickest car that i have had. See pic

My daily driver is a Ford Mondeo, but it belongs to the company.
My current toy is a 1996 Chevrolet Caprice 9C1 which is the police spec car and is ex Virginia State Police, still got pushbars and pillar spotlamp.
I just sold a 1987 Buick Grand National which I owned for 12 and a half years.

All the best

Little story. Had trouble with motor on my EF xr8. Air flow meter was playing up. Went to ford dealer to fix. Drove out 4 hours later with new BA XR6. Acid Rush colour. 183kw, tint, cd, 17' wheels. WHAT a car!!! WOOHOO!! Cant park anywhere with out people looking at it. Even HSV boys.

The game is DEFINATELY not over!!!!!

Hey Bernoo!
Even I like the new BAs. It's taken a long time for Ford to get their act together but I think they're on a winner with this one.
