best ask your insurer and/or broker
this has been discussed previously and there have been many different interpretations of requirements, but unless listed in your company's small print, as an exemption, no valuation should be required...
but a detailed list might be a good idea

Im in process of getting my models insured and my insurer told me i have to have a detailed list along with the value of each car and web site print outs with prices listed of what the models sell for now.

My models are being valued now by my local model shop owner. I asked him if he minded doing it, and as i'm a regular, he didn't mind at all. I have a detailed list of all the cars I own:
Model code/production number
Brand
Description of model
Limited Edition certificate number (if applicable)
Cost
From there, he will go and price them now (usually a 30% mark up across the board he said, excpet for som of the Biante cars I have like the Green Johnson XE, and Johnson Sierra, Bathurst winners, and XW-XY Falcons). He will sign it and date it to give the valuation some authenticity, then i am going to approach my insurance company with the list and valuation for insurance. My collection is such now that it really should be insured. I am also photographing them all with my digital camera for added proof.
I might be paranoid, but better paranoid, than robbed with no way to recover their cost...

Admin said a couple of weeks ago that they were doing something about this, but would not elaborate on the details, other than the costs would be close to $7 (no news as to per model or collector). Only time will tell what they were talking about.
cheers.
