Hi this is Mrs Gottaluvbrocky,
Sorry but I think I may be having a blonde moment, but I would appreciate if someone could clarify something for me (plus hubby is away & I can't ask him).
The Biante 1971 Bathurst Winner - does it say Bathurst Winner on the box or does it just simply say XY Falcon GTHO.
The certificate say outright winner - but all the Bathurst Winners we have in our collection all say Bathurst Winner on the box.
Also what is one of these cars worth in 1.18?

HI Mrs GLB,
The Moffat car's box just says XY Falcon GTHO. It's worth around $500 - $700 depending on where you buy it from. Are you getting MR GLB one or did you break his?

All our Bathurst models are Biante except the Moffat 1971 (basically we couldnt afford it so we waited for the CC one to be produced). So I want to buy one for him for Xmas.

I'm not trying to place a damper on your excellent idea for a Xmas present. My Wife knows what my hobbies are & how expensive it is. She also knows that I am very particular in my selections of models
You might like to the Mr, as there are several differences between the Biante version & the CC one. He may wish to stick to the Biante versions. You might like to veiw them both.
Good luck in your endeavours.:)

Here I am making an enquiry & I get shot down. That is not very nice. This hobby of collecting models is not just hubby's but mine also - how do you think he can keep on buying cars if it wasn't for me. THEY'RE NOT CHEAP! A very expensive hobby.
I haven't see the Biante Bathurst Winner before - so I just wanted to double check & where else do you do that but here on the Biante Forum.
Please don't both leaving comments if your going to be nasty!

Wasnt nasty at all, my partner knows what i am after but sometimes doesnt see the value in the cars i collect.
Its great to see a female taking an interest in what at times comes over as a male dominated arena.
Sorry if that came across the wrong way.

That's ok your forgiven - I did take it the wrong way. Sorry but I'm feeling a little stressed out today.
Well the main reason why I ask is because a friend of a friend has offered to sell me this model for $400 and I just wanted to know if this was a good price - from the other comments I have seen it most definatley is.

Thats not a bad price at all, given they were fetching $750 plus before CC came out doing XY's i would take it and run.
For me the Biante one would be the one to have as Moffat has endorsed it.

Yeah that's another reason why I want to buy the Biante one - we like having the actual models signed on the roof etc & since Allan won't sign any Classic Cars - we are sort of forced to find the Biante ones - but at a resonable price OF COURSE :)

Is it Biante XY 65E Bathurst Winner? If so, TAKE IT as you'll never get another like it, however if its a CC version $200 tops & you might even get one cheaper on Ebay.
71 XY 65E is better than the 70 XW 64E & will hold its value better IMHO
Good luck:)

As Lukey said contact Inter, but i am pretty sure the 65e is the more valuable.

Here we go Mrs G. This is the last post Inter has done for the Moff '71 car. His figures are worked from averages from Ebay, shops and a few other sources.

I know that model car collecting is not about making money but it is sad to see the 1971 bathurst winner drop in value so much
i have just updated the average and the last 50 sold is now $510
and the last 12 month average is $587
and the last 20 is $493 this means it is still going down.
this is the lowest average it has been for over 4 years
2007 = $587
2006 = $720
2005 = $638
2004 = $602
2003 = $427
2002 = $286
2002 = $236
2001 = $205
1999 = $145
some people forked over $800 two years ago chasing a dream to fill their collection and unfortunately they could of purchased one today and have spare cash to buy two new releases. This must have an effect on the industry?
very sad

Hey Inter - Thanks
I was a bit unsure because the person selling didn't want much for it & I questioned a few times if it actually was the Bathurst Winner hence my asking the question in the post.

Hey MrsGLB, sometimes one can be in the right place at the right time, my dealer knew i was chasing the 65E (and 64E), but i wasnt going to pay big$$$. one of his clients wanted a couple of cars that i had, so we did a swap, the 65E ended up "costing" me $300:) and that was when they were pulling $700 ish.

smart move this trading.
Sometimes it pays to get an extra one and let it mature so one can trade it for the one that you did not get.
I bought a DJR RS500 when issued extra, and traded it for the Cobra XC Moffat, so it did only cost me retail issue price, which ever way you look at it.
Both parties were happy.

Geez you dont much do ya:D
Not saying you have NO chance...Just not much chance;)
I couldnt imagine many people would part with these as they are 2 of the most sought after B/H winners.
Still, never say never i guess Good luck.

Try EBay,
There is a guy who pulls models apart and sells them off in pieces. Just look at Biante bonnets or similar and then click onto his EBay store which has a number of categories on the left side. I would be very surprised if he didnt' have them.
Cheers

Hi Everyone Mrs GLB here!
Anyone just wanted to let you all know that I actually negotiate hard with the seller & only paid $250 for the 1971 Moffat 65E Bathurst Winner 1.18.
I honestly think the guy had no idea about its worth - and quite frankly I wasnt' going to say any either.
Feeling Good Right Now!

Don't think its hot. He had other models, but I was only interested in the Bathurst Winner. The model still has straps & all in place - AWESOME.
I honestly think he had no idea. There are so many collectors out there that don't really have any idea of the value of some models - which is great for the serious collectors. Plus I'm not going to say anything if that means I can basically pay close to the orginal price when first released.

Was at the Bendigo Swap meet today and watched with despair as a "well known" dealer reeled in a person to part with $700 for a 65E.
This same dealer i purchased an 06 winner online for $200 only to be told next day there was a mistake and it was no longer in stock. Only to reappear on his site that night for $350!!:mad:
