Noticed that the launch for Clipsal is happening on the 9th Nov.

I really want to go, so just curious as to which is the best grand stand to sit in, out of the ones available, then I can book early and I have no excuse not to go :)

Goldie, I think this has been discussed in a thread leading up to last years, but it really depends on what you are after.
I sit on the main straight about 2nd row of grid,
Good points: Can see all pit action, start/finish, big screen, podium, pre race entertainment.
Bad points: No racing action (straightline)
Have also sat in the "Pit Entry" stand.
Good points: Big screen, good passing point, 2 wheel action over ripple strip, plenty of brake lock ups, spins. need to be as high up in stand as possible to see over wire fence.
Bad Points: see above good points;)

Apparently Senna Chicane is supposed to be the prime spot, hence dearer cost.
Turn 8 is also a good spot for action.
The good thing about being on the Pit Entry, Senna Main straight side of the track is they are where all the off track sights are and majority of crowd.
Hope this is of some help
Would highly suggest grandstand/gold ticket as opposed to Gen admission.
Cheers Bruce.

P.S Wouldnt leave the booking go too much longer, alot of the seats get reserved for the previous years patrons on a first choice system, and it is only a couple of months away

I sit in the Barry Sheene grandstand on pit straight and think it's the best as you get to see all the pitlane action.

Block AA /Section A for me. Right at the start of Pit Straight up high with perfect view of the final turn and pit entry with a screen at the end of the pits. Been there since 1994 for F1. You've got to be quick though, it sells out early. Pit Straight stand has to be "felt" to be appreciated. When the F18 flies over at the end of the National Anthem, the whole stand rocks...literally:eek:
Be nice to finally catch up Cam.

The way i see it, you will love the event as long as you have a grandstand seat. General admission doesn't seem too flash, in my opinion. I went in 2004 and 2007 and sat in two completely parts of the track, had a blash both times. This year though, sitting at the end of the main straight was so awesome, can hardly describe. In 04 we were at turn 9, which was very good for incidents, but you couldnt see over the fence.

I probably haven't helped you decide much here, but next time i go i'll be on the main straight a little bit further up the track (closer to the start finish line)

I always used to be in the pit entry stand. Wouldn't go anywhere else if I was paying. Borrowed a mates ticket for about the 3rd row on the grid on the straight which was OK in my opinion but not as good. As others have said, depends what you are after. I enjoyed the turn onto the main straight and watching who was going into the pits and when rather than what was happening in the pits. If I could only get GA tickets then I wouldn't bother even going, its got worse and worse every year for people without grandstand tickets. CBC corner was good last year but the 4 meals and being offerd Scotch from 9am was a struggle ;)

Cheers for the comments guys.

Yes BB will have to catch up "when" I come over.

Looking at the Pit Entry stand is it better to be up high on these also? So far can manage row B... Would rather not be looking through a fence all day.

From experience you don't want to be too close to the front, those speakers get pretty loud during the race.

And you don't want to be in club cockroach (unless it's free :D) as you're too low to the ground and spend the day sitting in front of a large plasma as you're sick of looking thru a fence....

Does Clipsal do the multi-stand ticked like they do for the Oz GP in Melbourne ??? If they do that for mine would be the go as at least you get to see many different parts of the track, and as I think someone said before, G/A tickets are absolutely useless as you can't see anything... !!!

I don't think there is a multi-stand option at the GP, Indy does but, not the GP.

I'm a little confused with the statements that GA isn't much chop at Clipsal? Back when Melb got the GP everyone was saying GA was better at the Adelaide GP than it is in Melb but, I find GA at the Melb GP pretty good!!

Used to be. They have put far more corporate structures in the way of the 'decent' GA viewing areas. Plus added more signage so that you have to peer through a 200mm gap between the top of the wall and the bottom of the signage to see the cars through the corners. I always take a cruise through the GA areas but its become worse and worse viewing over the years.

Goldie, I have sat in just about every granstand from pit entry to barry shean grand to senna chichane . The best seats I have had were at turn 7 wakefield. Nice undercover shade all day, nice breeze see them turning onto the back straight and depending on where you sit you can see them coming down from turn 6. the one downside is that you are a bit of a walk to get to the pits, merch etc etc. that would be my pick for sure!!

Well from my experience this year, GA was only good if you wanted to stand 1/2 way along one of the straights, with extremely limited viewing. If you wanted to see something other than a car whizzing past at full speed, then a grandstand is the ONLY way to go in Adelaide ;)

Melbourne on the other hand is a totally different matter, but that's better left for another thread.

Row B Goldie? Are you internetting or via phone,as internet usually gives "best" seats first. Unfortunately the computer thinks the best seats are at the front.. WRONG;) Try phoning and asking for as high as possible I think N is the last row from memory, also try and get the stand on the far right, not the one one closest to the hairpin.

Don't usually hang around for the after race concerts but with Santana playing Sunday night I might make an exception.
