We recieved 625mm of rain (over 2 feet) in less than 10 hours yesterday morning causing total havoc around the region with widespread flooding. That total is almost half of our average annual rainfall.

It was caused by a tropical low and the monsoonal through connecting with each other over the city. Many areas of the city have been flooded and many home innundated.

Yesterday afternoon i went for a trip around town to take a look and took some pics while i was at it.

Last night at my house in andergrove we recieved more heavy rain and it as i type this is really coming down again.

Unbelievable scenes on the news, they were even saying there was a risk of Crock's in the flood waters, now that is a hairy thought (unless it was a media beat up)!!

Please send some our way, rain that is not the Crock's, you can keep them!!;)

Yeah, there was reported sightings of crocs in suburban street early friday morning. best one was on tuesday when the bridge near the main hospital (is being replaced in 2009 because it tends to go under a lot) they had the bridge closed because there was a very lost croc on the bridge.

My brother came home from the speedway a couple of hours ago with some really bad news concerned the local drag strip.

Palmyra Dragway situated south-west of Mackay has basically been destroyed due to the flooding that occured. The concrete wall on the left side of the strip has fallen over, causing water to get underneath the racing surface itself making the surface soft and completly inusable, all the timimg equipment, the christmas tree and the equipment for the tree have been destroyed, many of the fences around the complex were also toppled over due to the force of the floodwater coming through the complex. Fortuneatly the neighbouring Keilback Park Kart Raceway has not been damaged and also Mac's Speedway has also come through the floods unscathed. Unfortunetly for speedway fans, this Saturday nights racing has been cancelled due to the track not being able to be prepared in time, The first race meeting at Mac's Speedway will be on March 28 and 29 with the Annual Australian Outlaw Sedan Championship.

Palmyra Dragway is expected to be out of action for the next 12 months.

I'm out at Lamberts Beach - didn't have any problems out there at all.

I didn't think that it was all that bad until I tried to drive to work Friday morning (just after 7) - got as far as Shakespeare Street when the Police turned me around.

Could not believe the full extent of it when I saw the news that night but...

Thanks for the welcome! Good to see all is returning to normal up here. I just have to go out now and record the flood levels for work. Couldn't believe front page of todays local paper - that car was apparently 5 metres up that tree from what mates have said!!!
