General Motors unveiled its plans for the re-birth of the Pontiac GTO yesterday at the New York motor show. No surprises - the car is to be built in Australia based on the Monaro with a few styling changes. Aparently GM expects to sell 20,000 cars a year.
Better buy up as many Biante Monaro models as you can get your hands on as the Americans are sure to be looking for the models when delivery starts early next year.

I live in California. When I heard that the Monaro was going into production, I emailed every GM USA division asking them to import this car. I fell in love with it when I first saw the concept car. I bought all of the Biante models in each color. Thanks to Bob Lutz, I'll be able to buy this car. Being a Camaro owner, I was angered by the demise of the Camaro and Firebird but the Monaro more than makes up for their loss. As soon as the car is announced for purchase, I'm putting in my order! Now, which color?

I reckon these will sell very well in the states.
When i was over there a few years back they had a couple of SS commodres on trial(they were badged as chevys) for the LA HWP and the cops loved them, I dont know what the out come was, but they love there rearwheel drive big V8 sedans and coupes over there.

It was my brother who exported one white SS commodore to the states. It was because the US was going to stop making V8 rear wheel 4 door sedans (Crown Vic). The cops loved it and were ready to place bulk orders. Holden was keen but when GM were asked to give the OK they said no. Now GM are importing in them themselves. I think the cops are getting Volvos now.

The actual facts are that they will be exporting the HSV GTS Coupe with some cosmetic and stying changes and it will sell in the USA under the name of Pontiac GTO, so buying up all the Monaro models wont be what there after it will be the HSV GTS Coupes. looks like they may increase in value considerably.
Just my two cents worth

If this car is to be made here and exported to the USA with the badges of Pontiac on it , would it be naive of me to suggest that some company, like mabee American Muscle, would then bring out a model of this car.
Just a bit of food for thought, before we go out and buy all the Monaro's we can find.
Mabee im wrong , but hey, it makes sence to me !!!!

Yes I think Westy is correct and apart from what's been said the American HSV or GTO will be a left hand drive version.

Well I hope Auto Art does the model, not ERTL(American Muscle).
