Hi guys
Just got a little problem I just realised. All my 1:18 VT Commodores' bonnet's do not stay up by themselves unlike the 1:18 AU Falcons. Neither do the boots. Is it just my commodores, or are all VTs like that? Are they meant to be loose and not stay up?
If so, I'd like to know how all the collectors out there keep the bonnets up? I'm finding it a real shame they dont stay up to show the details underneath.
Thanks.
Kid.

I have all the commodores, and there is only one that doesnt stay up (bonnet) and maybe two that dont have boots that stay up.
Sometimes, you just have to apply a --"little'"-- more forceful pressure (yes, i do get scared...) to get them to open passed the 'bonnet hold' position (for want of a better term.
Having said that, at least one of the LJ's i have wont stay up at all.

I painted a few pins in silver and used them as bonnet supports, just dont knock the models!!
Make sure you use pins with flat bases on them as the ones with the pointy bases take the paint off.

I've seen with the Brock 43D HT where on one car the bonnet wouldn't stay up, but on another one, the bonnet would. The shopkeeper was kind enough to point out the problem, and supply a HT where the bonnet would stay up. And I was told that the problem wasn't restricted to just the 43D.
I can only feel sorry for dudes coming after me as the last few cars to sell would have been the 'defective' ones, if not staying up is a defect.

I dont know about it being a defect, but it doesnt worry me one way or the other. I display all mine on a shelf, with doors/bonnets/boots shut. I just reckon in some cases, such as the Walkie, or Moffat Mustang, ooorrr..... the Option 97 Cobra, it simply makes the car look meaner. Yeah you miss the engine detailing, but hey! You have cant have your cake and eat it too!

Yeah true that... I gotta admit, I never could see the point in having cake and not being able to eat it.. what am I sposed to do with it? Put it on display in between my DJ Sierra, and Moffat Sierra?

not eating cake is a waste..... leave it to long and it starts growing penecillin...
and you could always display it ON the DJ sierra and moffat sierra.. but thats just an observation from a holden lover..

Yeah I know... I always thought if you got a big enough piece of cake, let it grow penicillon, then chuck a motor into it.... oh wait, HRT already did it, and let Skaifey drive it!
Haha, Sorry! Its old and lame, but had to be said! :D

this is a pretty widespread problem, iv'e seen this sorta stuff with a few autoarts and biantes. always ask if u can check your model b4 u buy it. if u pay the full price 4 the model, so u would expect it to be in perfect condition.

how bout, buy the cake and eat it, then decide what you are going to do with the models. maybe circulate it so sometimes have the bonnet open, and sometimes close them.

OK, I reckon get the cake made in the SHAPE of the model, put it on display for a while, THEN eat it... and hope it hasnt gone off!

i solved the bonnet falling problem on my vt commodores. i accidentaly left it on the floor and my girl friends dog took a wizz on the rear end of the car. and a couple of weeks later the rust held it open.:D

the dog piddle must have been mighty powerful stuff to get through the basic carbonate layer on the zinc, which virtually stops corrosion.
