I've asked this question before and the answer was far from clear. I'm trying to understand what In Stock, Temporarily Out Of Stock and In Production all means. Some time back it was said that In Production meant that a particullar model was two to three weeks away then I saw the 1.43 Chargers listed that way at least eight weeks ago, nowthe Charger's are listed as Scheduled For Production. Ages ago I saw the 1.43 Track Red XY listed as Sold Out now it reads Temporarily Out Of Stock (confused yet ? I am)
Then yesterday I saw the Four Skaiffe cars Boxed set listed as In Stock now it says In Production, it really is confusing to try and follow all this and maybe just puting the car on the site when its available would be a better way to go, cause under this system no one know if there coming or going. Am I right or Wrong.

I will try to explain the system, but first some parameters we have to operate within.
Yearly we handle around 800,000 items from our 7 manufacturers and as a result, have items at various stages of development, production, delivery status, etc
Obviously we cannot have a category of availablity for all these items so we have 6 to keep it simple.
The other item that affects this, is that we want to tell you what is planned for the year and so rather than having a "It will happen sometime this year" box, or worse, not telling you about it at all like most do until its here and you may have no funds left and miss a model you want, we call it "Scheduled for production". That doesn't mean it will be available tomorrow, but it is coming!
Items , like the Chargers, can go from In Production, back to Sheduled for various reasons, like in this instance, the production slowed before Chinese New Year and because the model being made was not finished by the time the Chargres were due to begin, they got re allocated. They were duly reset to In Production once the blockage cleared.
We always keep some spares for a period to allow for damaged shipments, lost parcels etc, so models initially go to Out of Stock and then when we see if there are any left, we go to Temp Out until we decide to put them back on, usually as Limited Stock.
Items also, like the gift sets, do not all get delivered at once, so they can obviously go from In Stock, to In Production. That lets you know there are more to come. A container also only holds 6600 models and with runs of 7000-12000, we get them in two drops, sometimes 2 weeks apart, so the same applies.
We could simplify it and just have In Stock and Sold out. But, apart from getting a million emails about "I missed out", we want to give you more info than that and let you have some idea of the model's status.
SUMMARY:
In Stock ...... obviously available
Temp out ...... will be back in stock at some stage
Limited Stock ...... less than 20 units
Scheduled ...... will be made this year
In Production ...... should be available within 4-5 weeks
Sold Out ...... none left at all!!
Hope that helps.

I agree with you diecastdude. It is very confusing. What the admin said in his/her rely does explain it, but I must say, there is still confusion in my mind.
One thing that must be praised is the concept of letting collectors know in advance so they don't run outta funds. This is to Biante's credit, because think about this - why on earth would you suddenly have $200 in reserve if you didn't know there's a great model coming out? Personally, I'm waiting eagerly for the Tru Blu XD.
But to be fair, why don't they leave the Sold Out items on the site as well? It seems now when you search for a model that's totally sold out, it's not there. I find that a bit annoying. Does anyone out there think the same?

Not much else to say except thanks for the detailed answer regarding my inquiry. I now get it, so to speak. While I don't like it I do get it, the reason I don't like it goes back to at least October last year when the 1.43 Track Red XY was listed as sold out so I went out and searched hard for this model and payed a premium, premium price, now since then it is listed as Temporarrily Out Of stock and has been that way for a few months now but the car was listed as sold out for months before it was changed to Temp Out Stock. I guess it is hard to keep up with whats in your stock and what isn't but I would have thought that when a model is packed and posted some computer program would simply deduct a model form your grand total list enabling an instant inquiry as to how many more are in stock to be made. Maybe this isn't the case, thanks for your detailed responce anyway.

Admin also forgot to mention the seventh status catagory - the 'In Stock but we won't sell it to you cos its got cigarette advertising' category. Not that I'm complaining or anything like that........

We didn't forget the "In stock but we won't sell it because it's got cigarette advertising", because they no longer get put into stock.
As far as Sold out items staying on, we have 4650 items on the site now, but have deleted over 11,000. If they were all still on, we would need a week for downloads on broad searches.
We have, in FAQ's "Product Information", got a listing of all items previously released in Biante brand so you can check on which models are authentic and not buy a fake colour etc.
Please appreciate that we have 3 semi trailers being shipped to the stores per week, and if we just had the website to cater for it would be a lot simpler. I believe we have by far the widest range available on just about any model site going and these categories have been tried, tested and modified over the past 5 years to be the most efficient. But that's not to say if we find an improvement, that we will not incorporate it.
Happy collecting.
