Dear Collectors,

Becareful with this person!

Name : Mauro de Oliva

Address :
16/80 Mcnaughton st,
Penrith, 2750, N.S.W.

Phone # : 0428150186

He bought minichamps from me worth total $720. He sent HALF OF THE TOTAL PAYMENT to me 5 months ago and asked me to send the models. He promised me to send the money after he had recieved the models. But I never recieve the money (another $370) until now.

Instead of sending me the other Half Payment from the first transaction, he ordered models from me again (Which worth $1750). Once again he promised to pay me all together if I send him the Second order.
For sure I refused to do so, and I cancelled the second order transaction with him since he hasn't paid me yet.

But this person threaten me to take this problem to court. Below this is the quote from his email

DO NOT THREATEN ME !!!
YOUR MONEY IS ON ITS WAY!
I HAVE A CONTRACT WITH YOU TO BUY QANTAS MODEL!
I WILL PURSUE THIS IN COURT IF I HAVE TO!
E-MAILS ARE LEGAL DOCUMENTS

I have tried to call him many times but he never admit he is Mauro (Wrong Number, which is impossible). Every time I have called him, he switch off the phone or divert it straight away.

Since the deal is through Biante Forum (he got my email address from my Sell board), I think I should warn others.

Thanks for reading.

I feel your pain. I was promised a heap of money orders which didn't appear over the course of a couple of months. Not from the same buyer but from some one in the same area ( Western Sydney) . Apparently these money orders were posted even though not one of the cancelled orders dropped into my mail box , eventually it took a credit union transfer and my continued questioning by company e-mail to get my money despite the buyer having the car for nearly a month . From now on its COD for me and if that person thinks I will do them a favour based on the fact that we both work for the same company well ......... The place where Rabbits live is not somwhere you want to deal with.

Cheers

Dear Collectors.
This is a very frustrating issue I understand. May I suggest a lay-by form of payment? That way the buyer in minichampmania's case can pay a first payment, and then pay the rest within say a month or two. And minichampmania DOES NOT give the buyer the model/s until all the funds are paid. It's pretty much the same, but it prevents those frauds out there who just pay a bit and vanish.
Hope this helps for any transactions in the future.

Doing transaction in Internet is all about trusting each other. I'm sure that many of the buyers also have problem in trusting the sellers. Especially the big transaction.

From the beginning I thought I wouldn't have problem with Mauro since he had shown his goodwill in buying by sending the half payment. What he did at the first place was quite fair for both side (me and him) but after that he's just a thief. This kind of guy only ruin the trusting issue in collectors' world.

C.O.D is the way to go!!! That is unless they are in the same city or near enough, then a mutual exchange cash & models is the only way i would do business. Have done it this way and is teh safest...

CHEERS!

I agree with HoldenMan here, C.O.D. or forget it. Good will and such only works if you
1. Know the individual personally and/or
2. Live within driving distance of each other.

Trusting beyond this is a little silly I would think.

I've always done COD myself. It's so hassle free and easy for both the seller and the buyer. But I know some sellers dislike waiting for the money order from the PO. But yeah, COD is the best, despite the extra cost.

Well COD is not complete 100% safe. I have sent a parcel by COD to a buyer, and he didn't pick up it for a month... the parcel was then returned to me. (Under the PO regulation, the buyer has one month's time to pick up and pay for the goods) I ended up paying my postage, COD fee and the returning postage. Since then I have never sent anything by COD again.

When I deal with anyone first time. I always ask them to provide 3-4 references. (Collectors or shops) This way when you have any troubles, at least you know who you can go for helps.

At the end of the day I've found out that collectors are normally very good.. but in any kind of industry there are always few who don't do the right thing. It's important to warn others (like what Minichampsmania did) and make sure we get rid of those troublemakers.
