just wondering how most people view certificate numbers, for themselves and for resale, which is better higher or lower numbers, i'm just asking because my johnson XD is the 3rd last certificate number.

Personaly, the numbers don't mean anything other than how many of this item / model was made, which is great for us collectors.

I have low, medium, high numbers just like everyone else would have. Must admit it is nice to get a lower number.
Point is all cars are identical, certificates are the same except for a number.

I have noticed some people do use the lower number certificate to try and get more money for their model.

When you buy the model, you check the certificate, and the model. Take it home, display it in our different ways in box and out. Then you probably will never look at the certificate again.

Your right Daniel numbers on certificates I could give a rats about,
so long as you get one with the model. Some dreamers think the lower the number the more valuable it is. As I said Dreamers!!!

I'm with v8coupe, The number really does not matter but as long as you get a certificate is the main thing. Myself l put all my certificates in a photo album to keep them in good condition

Well as for numbers on certificates,, whether it be the first or last,, it does'nt change the overall personal value of the model,, It would be nice to get the corresponding number to the car number in the instance of Brock/ Moffat/ Johnson race cars etc,, but it's not a significant importance. Just if your lucky enough it's nice but as for the losers re-sellers trying to rip collectors of with certificate numbers, it's nearly as bad as what I've seen some brochures sell for..

Happy Model collecting not COA collecting...

About the only certificate I recon would be any cooler is if it mached the racing cars number, ie, certificate No 00005 for a Brock commodore. But that would only be a wow kinda thing, I certainly would not pay any more for it, but.

Just one the subject of Brochures,, how can anyone sell these Brochures for the prices they do,, especially when a model that has a Brochure is normally sent with it.
Check this guy out on SOLD.com. prices from $5 to $32,, http://au.user.sold.yahoo.com/au/user/memphis18aus ?

It sure makes one wonder..

Re certificate numbers - when the first GTs came out I always thought it would be great (and fluke) to get number 351. Of course this never happened , but bugger me , the green XU-1 that I purchased had number ??? yep 351.....
I thought that was rather funny.

Ausdiver,, you may have some trouble getting them for a reasonable price,,I guess $5 is probably not bad,, but in the end I cannot see why collectors if selling second hand, cannot supply the brochure with the model there selling,, I guess that's why there's quite a few selling these brochures,, they don't pass them along with the model when they sell it..
SAMMY HAGAR.. that's a very good idea.. at least that way the originals are kept prestine and safe..

More to the point...
Why do people PAY the prices they do???

As sure as night follows day, as long there are people willing to pay a ridiculous price (for anything), there will be others willing to take their money...
Remember, it is the Buyer, not the seller, who sets the price...
If there are no buyers (at any given price point), then there will be no sellers..
So I think being critical of the seller is 'barking up the wrong tree'.

certificates dont mean much to me. the probablility of a getting a low number is just as high/as low as getting a high number. so i dont see any value in a low number on my COAs.

Hi all
This is my first input into the forum section and I'd just like to say that I really enjoy reading everyones opinions keep it up.

As for Numbered Certificates, As far as I know the number on the certificate has nothing to do with the manufacturing order of the model.

I've noticed that when I get my models from my supplier he pulls the certificate out of an envelope containing as many certificates as he has models supplied to him from Biante. (brochures also)

I can pick whatever Number I like out of the certificates he has, (if I wanted to). I don't because I have enough trouble trying to get the cars I want without stressing over also finding the right numbered certificate.

The car is what I want, if it comes with a numbered certificate thats great, what numbers on the cirtificate who cares.

Anyway happy collecting:)

Hi All.
I dont think the certificate number makes any difference in the value of the car, the actual certificate and number is to show its a limited edition, as mentioned in earlier threads doesnt mean thats the order the cars were produced, im sure they just get an envelope full of COA's and just put them into the boxes at random, except for the numbers that the Biante staff want :). These people that think they will get higher prices for low COA numbers are really playing with themselves.

On the subject of Brochures, we still have some of the earlier ones and all you need do is email listing what you want. If we have it we will, upon reciept of a stamped, self addressed A5 envelope, send them to you at no cost.

Once ONE turns up on sold.com etc..this service stops.

Brochures are now, when included (modern race cars do not have them) supplied to the shops on a one for one basis. ie 24 cars...24 brochures. Every buyer should be given one.

AND.. FYI.....Biante keeps number 1 certificate and car of every release for our archives.

My current model car retailer gives me a brochure with its related model.
When I was chasing models I had missed. They gave me a brochure for a different car. That is probably why some people missed a specific brochure.

i agree V8coupe - it's happened to me once. Some sellers just give you any broshure, so you have odd broshures floating around. :(

I've been watching that guy on Ebay and SOLD for a while as well and he seems to have a never ending supply of these brochures, it sure stinks when a lot of the catch up models I purchased from private sources and dealers came with no brochure at all. Now that I've caught up on what I want I'll get the rest from Biante, this way I get the brochure and the bonus points. Another reason to give these dealers a miss.

Richard,

Not to be too much of a pain in the rear and bring up old stuff but on March 1st, 2002 12:15 AM ( view here (http://turing.ibc.com.au/bianteforums/showthread. php?s=&threadid=12) ) I posted a list of the ones I was missing and you didn't tell me if you did or did not have any of them, you just wanted to know where I got the models. I am very interested in getting the rest of the brochures and the 2 missing certificates ( view here (http://turing.ibc.com.au/bianteforums/showthread. php?s=&threadid=53) ) that I still have not had a response from either via the forum or direct email.

Please let me know what I now need to do to resolve one or both of these issues.

In addition to that list I have now added a white XY, a 1/900 XY Dealer display model, Yellow XU1, Goss Falcon and all new release cars. None of the older cars came with brochures.

Zorak.
