Hello all,

As a collector of the 1:18 scale Biante's, I am bemused as to some of the asking prices people try to command. I was in two retail establishments yesterday with both stores had the Track Red XY Phase Threes at $1450 and $950 respectably. Would anybody really pay this sort of money or it like number plates that are offered for ridicules amounts that never sell?
What is the most someone has paid for a model viewing this forum?
The most I paid was $425.00 for the Track Red and I felt like a goose in doing so about 2 years ago. I welcome any comments.

Bob.

Hi HSV Fan,

Ive been lucky enough to get all but the LJ Torana's, brand new from my local store, and ive cut a few real good deals to get the LJ's since.....

But, i made a display cabinet for a fellow last year who had just spend $3000 in one day obtaining all the models he wanted. Funny thing was, he only wanted the cabinet big enough to carry his entire collection of 10 models.
I was in too much shock to even ask which models he got (he did say they were all Biante though).

But, think about it like this, if you had lets say 35 models in your collection, and you'd paid an average of $140 retail for each model, your looking at an investment of $4900. So $400-600 to get that one elusive model may not seem much in the whole scheme of things!

Having said that, you 'probably' wont find me paying much more than a couple hundred for a model i missed out on.

Hi HSV, a couple of years ago I sold a Track red XY to a model shop in the city ( Melbourne ) for $650, without very much trouble at all. So people are paying a fair price for these models.

G'day Bob,
I think the best way is to is to know exactly what you want then shop around at shops and on the internet to find a realistic price. Check the Biante- Buy, Swap and Sell site 1st. then check sold.com and eBay. I purchased Allan Moffat's 65E 12 mts ago for $400.00 free postage from Victoria on the Biante site and I got his 64E for $260.00 plus $10.00 p&h. Both these cars were going for approx $600.00 & $400.00 at the time. I've also seen a white twin mirror GTHO phase III for $1300.00 on an auction site some one paid too much for me. I've found that lot of the shops have very inflated prices for cars that are out of production. Also the colour brochures offered on the internet are extremely over priced. Check with Biante for these as they may have a few left over and they are very helpful. Hope this will help a little. All the best and good luck.

Cheers Shane.

Hey Bob
Your right some models are dear , buts it supply and demand if you really want it you will pay for it ??
Some shops though are over the top, I wanted to purchase to Moffat mustang and a shop had it for $350 I said ok I would layby it and pay $100 straight away, they would not let me layby it and its now still in the shop window and that was january.

Westy,

Shame about the Mustang. I have to laugh when you said you where going to layby the model and they turned you down and its still in the shop. I wonder if they realise that you probably would have paid the layby off by now?

Westy if you go to www.gatewaymodels.com.au you will find your Mustang for $299 and I am pretty sure they will arrange a layby for you. Good luck.

Models are worth what any prospective buyer is willing to pay to get what he or she wants.
I'm currently selling list of XY's for a mate of mine with prices ranging from $280.00 upto $900.00 for the red HO:) :)

I only started collecting in about August last year, I managed to buy 64E, 65E, Bryan Byrt, Cobra, Brut 33, for $1200. From a private collector who was selling of his collection, He was happy to sell them to me at this price only if I promised to keep them for collecting and not to sell them for profit. It seems the more people that try to profit from our hobby will just push the prices up more !!!

I must admit I was not that greatly happy to have to pay $280 for the Clubsport R8. I try to get them all new at the average price of $120 from the local distributors or Holden's Lions Den in Richmond. So far have 5 HSV models.
