We were discussing the numbers on oneday cricketers caps - ie Ponting is 123 and Gilchrist is 129 - I gather they are sequential numbers but was wondering where to get a complete list of numbers and players and who is 1-10+ ....

thanks Whitlam, I would have thought Ian Chappel would have got no 1 because he was the captain and he was older!?

Something i was wondering about when i watched the cricket today ..... im sure we'r all aware that if a batsman acciidentally doesnt make it to the crease between wickets and turns and runs another, the first run is disallowed bcos of a 'short run'. What about when a batsman is facing a bowler and is batting OUTSIDE his crease ?? He therefore isnt running from one wicket to another, so why isnt this a short run aswell ??

I know its just being picky, but it made me wonder ......

Once the batsman has grounded his bat behind the crease and the ball is considered dead he's free to take his guard wherever he likes.

Where does the batter start before going OUTSIDE his crease? in his crease right? so he actual is there before going out, even at the times like you say when the bowler has not even bowled, as when he short runs the other end of the pitch he never touch the crease thus being a No Run!

Thats way I see it & I'm not a big cricket fan, but loved my Indoor cricket days!!!

Cheers

Yeah, as i said im only being VERY picky !!!

But, i would consider the beginning of a ball when the bowler begins his run into the crease and at that stage the batter would hve been outside his crease ....

Hmmm anyway, LOVE the way the Aussie's are giving it to the Indians !!

I think i get more happiness these days from our blokes beating teams other than the Poms !!! hahaha

I really thought we would have had a competitive match between these 2 teams, but once again Aust has dominated. I would have loved to see tendulkar put on a show.
