Repeatly during the telecast of Sandown there was a lot of talk about the reshaping of DJR for 2003. Apart from saying that there would be a new colour scheme & the team would take a months holidays, there was really nothing said.
I wonder if anyone has/or is prepared to, release some information regarding the new 2003 paint scheme ?
Also,
by taking a full months holiday between Jan 13th & Feb 13th when will the team have time to get its' Barra's ready ?
Now i'm not expecting them not to have holidays (far from that), but with all of the news of the Barra being a real battle to get ready for the Australian Grand Prix, it amazes me as to why they would be having such a long break during the off season.
Hopefully DJR return back to being the top Ford team in 2003, god know how hard it has been watching (& criying about) this years performances from my all-time favorite race team.
cheers,
brchi17

Classic Carlectables have confirmed they will be designing the colour schemes for several of thier sponsered teams.
They may be designing DJR's 2003 colour scheme.

the new colour scheme is almost totally yellow, with red outline of shell logo over bonnet and guards.....with all the various stickers/logos over it. looks ok on paper, maybe a bit bland though

There was a picture of Dick sitting in the bare shell of a new BA at his HQ in the Brisbane paper about two weeks ago and Dick said that the new scheme will be A LOT different.

In the background was another car covered up.

Maybe if someone who visits DJRs can get a photograph of the car(s) if viewable and post it here.

I bet you wont tell either !!!!
Just a few questions that you could answer,
How about naming some of the sponsors that will be on the car instead ?
And I don't mean Shell, Ford , Dunlop & Biante.
How about this one, are DJR going back to a co-sponsorship arrangement like they did between 1994 & 1996 ?
Are biante getting an exclusive diecast arrangement with them ?
cheers.

There is not enough money out there for me to break a confidence with Dick, Holden, Ford, etc etc.
We get a lot of forward advice to assist us in our projects and if one whisper comes from us about any of them, I may as well shut down as no-one would trust me anymore.
So, sorry..Dick will tell you when he is good and ready.

Bathurstfan, I didn't see the pic, but if it was in the workshop, the car under the cover is a replica of the 1994 Bathurst winning EB Falcon.
It is the car that was raced and destroyed in a crash at the 1993 Bathurst.
The original 1994 car was converted to EF spec's to race in 1995. However, it was to become John Bowe's car, and was the car that was written off after he rolled it at Phillip Island.
The girl behind the counter confirmed all this for me when I asked about it!!
Hopefully, our friends from Biante will be up there when it's finished to prepare for the long awaited EB model!!!!

Ed :)

P.S I'm sure DJ will be back at the front with the BA!!!!

A while ago on Sports Tonight, there was a story on this car & it was given back to DJR by the NSW Tafe people who work at Bathurst. At the time we were lead to believe that it was actually the real bathurst winning car, which they had restored to a body shell after the PI insident, over several years.
Food for thought,
cheers.

The picture was in Brisbane's Sunday Mail APPROX 2 WEEKS AGO, the car Dick was sitting in was just the motor basically surrounded by the roll cage and tubing.

I'm only about 1hr away, I was thinking of heading down there soon.

I know out the back of DJRs awhile back was a smashed up Falcon that remined me of the one that was wrecked at Bathurst around '93/94 when he was hit by the Commodore that bounced of the wall.

Bathurstfan, Brchi17, the car you both talk about
IS the 1993 car I've talked about above.
I had a dig around the net, and came up with the following link:

http://drive.fairfax.com.au/content/20010727/motor sport/motor2.html

Is this the story you described BF????

I can't wait to see it finished, it will be an excellent addition to the collection. I took a pic of the workshop on my way home from Indy, but unfortunately the EB is under the cover described, and in my shot is also behind a spare Falcon door and an Indy poster!!

XR8,
I stand corrected !!!
That was the story I was thinking about.
Either way, what a display Dick will have by the time it is finished.
Can't wait to the day I finally get there to see them all.
cheers.

Brchi17, If you're as keen on DJ's cars as I am, then you'll need 3 people to drag you out of there!!!
It's a real great place for a Ford enthusiast.
There's also Norm Beechey's XY GTHO Phase 3 there as well,
and it's in race trim!!!
You will have a great time, I promise!!!

xr8,

I believe thats the car, the "Everlast" Commodore hit it when DJ was going past after it hit the wall and bounced back out onto the track.

The car kept at the back had its rear smashed in.

I my memory serves me correct, I think it was this crash that saw the introduction of the window nets in all V8's.
During this crash Dick's head hit the concrete wall after the car was ramed into the concrete barriers as it approached Reid Park, while he was in another race winning position.
History again then repeated itself when Glenn Seton did the same thing to Bowe in the EF in 1995/6 (can't remember which year the be exact, so I'll have an each way bet) race in almost the same spot.
Can't wait to see the next DJR model when it arrives. Does anyone know when the '83 XE & the next Sierra are comming ?
Cheers.

To brchi17,

I say that Dick's next release will be approximately in March, because he has a four to six months span between models.
