I don't know if anyone is aware, but you can buy cars direct from AUTOart. They have the Sting Red Clubsport R8 and Devil Yellow Monaro CV8 at $64.95 US each, shipping is $20US though so it'd cost $84.95 US, still cheaper than the market price. These cars musn't have certificates and musn't form part of the 'official' collection. Maybe someone from Biante could let us know if they do or not, I emailed AUTOart but haven't had a response yet. Even if they don't have certificates, someone who really wants one of these can get it at a price less than the market.

Glen,
Do you have a link to the page, where it is listed on autoart?

Just go to:

www.autoartmodels.com

Go to 1:18 and then performance. To order from them I think you have to email them for an order form, not sure if you can pay by credit card or not, but you can send them a money order, cheque, bank cheque etc.

Hi, yes, I ws very surprised to find this out. I had already specifically asked AutoArt if the 'Biante Models' (or Holdens in general) were available in Europe, and was told 'categorically NO' and that if I wanted them, I would have to import them from Australia (which I have done), only to find them now 'popping up' at ModelZone here in London.

This is annoying, considering the extra cost of the international postage on top of the cost of the models.

I bought a yellow Monaro (non HSV) and it is in an 'ordinary' AutoArt box without a certificate.

Did the Holden Monaro's (non HSV) have certificates in Aus?

For those wondering, $84.95US = $152Aus

All of the Monaros here in Oz come with certificates, I not sure, but I think they are all nubered out of 4000. So obviously these cars direct from AUTOart do not have certs. Thanks. Still pretty good for someone who wants these cars and missed out on the first ones.

I guess it's because HSV vehicles have quite a small but loyal following here, but 'the word' is spreading.

General Motors had a Monaro on display at the Birmingham Motor Show for 'evaluation purposes'. God lets hope they do bring them in! Something for us Ex-Pat Aussies and Kiwi's to look forward to.

£26,000 is predicted price. Lets hope that they don't rebadge it as a Vauxhall as they are considering...

Rumour has it that our next Vauxhall Omega may be Commodore-based. That will make a change from the other way around...

So does this mean that these cars without the certs are being made and sold off overseas over and above the numbers quoted here in OZ.

Is there more than the 1000 odd Sting reds quoted.

The 1:18th Monaro is already on the market in USA, Japan,UK and Europe. Has been for a couple of months.
If you got a 2002 Autoart catalogue, you would see they are in there as well.
GM will be launching some similar models to our Monaro in other places as we all have read about and we will also be releasing the models of these cars in these places.
So, we issued a small run for ROW release in standard boxes and no certificates to build the awareness to future releases..

Londoner, where is ModelZone? I'd like to check it out. And has anyone got the AutoArt Audi Quattro in 1:18? The photo on Biante's site looks good, but it may be of a "real" car, as the detailed photo on AutoArt's own site looks quite poor, particularly at the front. I realise that some models don't appear to photograph well - I nearly didn't get the Johnson XC because of a rubbish photo, but it looks much better in the flesh!
And back to the thread - yes you can order dirent from AutoArt but they definitely don't take credit cards, so it's slightly less convenient. And my Evo 6 Mitsubishi has taken 3 months to get from Hong Kong to Rotterdam, and it still hasn't made it to the UK!

So are these aditions to the one already made (ie 4000 CV8 Devil Monaro's) or some that were kept from that product run ?
I'd be really interested to know if there were more that the 4000 CV8 Monaro's as is listed on the certificate that came with my model.
cheers.

We allocated a couple of hundred out of our 4000 to be ROW cars.
The demand in the other countries is absolutely minimal believe it or not.
Probably the same when we sell an Opel Kadett. 100 Kadetts, 10,000 Gemini.
Nick,
The Quattro is superb. We got a couple of versions in last week as you know and the model of this car, which I am quite familiar with, is a ripper. Should have got your EVO6 from Model Aerodrome, the UK distributor. Would have arrived in 3 days.

Thanks Admin! If it's that good I'll snap up a quattro when they release it in Tornado Red (always had Audis before I got into Aussie cars and got the Cobra!). And as for the Evo 6, it was one of the Tommi Makinen Editions in red, and I was a bit slow off the mark getting one. No model shops seemed to have any left, and AutoArt themselves only had 2 left. They kept one for me, but as I said, it still hasn't arrived! Plus I didn't know about Model Aerodrome......My local model shop is great if you like trains or dolls houses but not so good for diecast.

So does any of these European model shops have web sites ?
How about posting some links if they are out there ?
cheers.

Fellow Forum watchers, please excuse my ignorance, what is ROW that Admin is referring to??.

The comment that a number had been allocated out of the 4000 were held back for ROW. Leaves me thinking that there are less than 4000 with certificates out there. Would this be correct to assume??

Go to the Links page of the Biante Website. They have a converter there

Go to the Scale 18 site from the Biante links page if you want to get a reasonably priced Sting Red Clubsport R8 or Yellow Devil Monaro CV8. Both are offered at US$50.95 + US$23 airmail postage to Aus. The total of US$73.95 works out to about A$133. You don't get a certificate of authenticity with the models, but at half the current market prices I can live with that!

Greetings all -

This is my first post, so please forgive my ignorance. This exact thread discusses my question regarding the Monaros sent to the ROW. I'm in the U.S. and recently purchased the Delft Blue Coupe and the White Clubsport from a U.S. company.

Only after that did I stumble upon 'all that is Biante' and have since made numerous Biante purchases over the past two weeks !

Anyway during my search of OZ sites, I saw COA versions of the cars I had purchased locally (just like I've read on this thread) and thought perhaps that MY versions were destined to have an unending run. Is this correct or not ?

If I understand correctly, any AutoArt Monaro that I would purchase locally is still constrained by the 4000 limit. Is this a correct statement?

I've found a Red R8 Clubsport and Yellow Monaro locally for $50 US each. Obviously neither have the COAs. However, I don't want to spend the moneyright now if AutoArt will simply be making more at a later date.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to talking with you guys in the future !

Regards,

Brett Cunningham

Zeitgeist..firstly welcome to the site.
Secondly, if you have read this thread, you will see that admin has already stated that the few hundred that went to other countries are part of the initial run of 4000.

G'day Brett,

AutoArt have the moulds, so I suppose there is nothing stopping them from making another run of Monaro's or R8's. They never said they were a limited edition run for the ROW, but why would they bother, as Admin said '' The demand in other countries is absolutely minimal''. So I don't think they will be doing another run.

If I were you I would grab a Sting Red R8 and Devil Yellow Monaro (the most popular colours here in Aus.) for the US$50 ea. without the COA

On the other hand , for the privilige of paying double or triple that on ebay or sold, you get exactly the same model plus a small piece of card, with a few numbers on it, thrown in for free. :D
The choice is yours.

I suppose Admin is the only one who could tell you for sure if another run will be done but as I said before I can't see it happening.

I think the Admin is dead on. Most of the Monaros go unsold on our side of Ebay. The Sting Red R8 is more rare, but it can be found at the US$50 mark.

I wonder if this will change once the Monaro hits our shores as the Pontiac GTO. Of course, local firms will offer said car with the wheel on the other side.

After initially reading this thread, that is exactly what I did !

I just bought the Devil Yellow Monaro(No Certificate) from Scale 1:18s Website in Canada. All up $133aus and that includes air mail, not bad at all. They did have the DJ sierra, but they are sold out of them.
They also have a few various V8 supercars as well with certificates.

ADMIN, was the 'couple of hundred' models just the monaros or did you keep a couple hundred red clubbys aswell? as there were only 1800 produced, it was hard enough to get one but now there were even less than that for sale in aus?

also due to the limited edition, i dont think biante can re-release the red clubby, im not sure who owns the mould (biante or autoart) but there is nothing to stop biante releasing a silver, black, blue, green and pink clubby R8 or even a senator, clubsport (not r8), XU6, XU8, SV99, manta, or gts series1 (220kw)
but thats up to them.

Chups -

Yes, indeed, there are Sting Red clubbys to be had here in the States. A little harder to come by that the White clubby or the Monaros, but available. Mine is arriving tomorrow, hopefully. Again, no COA included.

I am thinking about buying a few for trading purposes, but I floated that topic on the Binate buy/sell/trade board and no one seemed interested. Perhaps it's the overseas thing.

Good score on the Devil Yellow Monaro. How did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking. Nick Short said earlier in this thread that they don't take Credit Card. I'd be quite keen to get a Sting Red Clubby even without the COA but would prefer to pay by credit card.
