That'd be great - thanks Marty! And if only I could somehow drive my Cobra 12000 miles to Geelong I'd get him to sign the roof with a really big pen! I'm hoping to migrate either in 2003 or 2004, and if I do decide to bring the Cobra back with me I can maybe get a signature then. I could try and get Jacky Ickx's before I go and I'd have the set!

Hey Nick,
how does the big Cobra handle the little English country roads & lanes ?
I bet it turns heads when it goes down the road !!!
I've never been there myself, but it appears (from photos etc) that the roads are filled with little Mondeo etc, because of the narrow roads.
I thought about moving over there 5 yrs to teach, but decied against it because they didn't have any Falcon's there - looks like I was wrong !!!!
cheers.

The roads are tiny - even the main roads have narrower carriageways that in Oz - and round my way there are roads that the Cobra brushes the hedges both sides with its mirrors! If you had come over to teach you probably wouldn't have seen too many Falcons, but there are some being imported in small numbers, plus the XT to XB were officially imported as part of UK Ford's model range, believe it or not. I know a guy who had an orange XB GT hardtop from new, and as well as my Cobra there's a very high quality Mad Max replica just been completed, plus various other older Falcons. Pretty few and far between, but we've just started a register of Aussie cars which includes Commodores and Chargers.

Try http://web.ukonline.co.uk/madmax2050/Main.html and there's a feature on the Mad Max replica. Of course the real thing is in a museum over here as well!

Well...
cheers Marty
At this years Targa there was a Cobra racing-it was the loudest car in the field and shook he ground...really.
Maybe if this car is in next years Targa Tassie ,Nick Short should come down to see it.

so nick, is your Cobra a 302 or a 351 ?
How do you go finding Leaded petrol in the UK ?
I bet it not commenly avaliable at the servo's, if the Uk is anything like us , as we've just about removed all traces of lead from our petrol ?

First of all, Marty - you're a legend! Thanks very much! Let me know how much postage will be to Pommy Land, and how best I can get the money to you.
Brchi17, my Cobra is a 351 - a replacement for the 302 originally fitted, but done very early in the car's life, together with the fitment of Ford aircon. I guess the owner didn't like the spec he got! I've removed the aircon to bring the interior back to original (and make a bit more room under the bonnet!) but kept the 351, which is quite warm. As for petrol, I have been using 97 octane unleaded, with bottles of octane booster and lead substitute added to every tank, but Mark Pividor of the Cobra Club runs his Bathurst Special #019 on LRP quite happily, so I'll give that a go. Mine's a higher state of tune than his standard 5.8, so I may need to carry on using octane booster.
