We are heading over to Melbourne next week for Xmas - does anyone out there know of any shops that sell old Dinky toys?

Hi Croweater

Likewise I'm heading your way for a few days. Can you recommend any model shops in South Australia ? I've been told there is a good shop in Handorf in the Barossa with lots of old models but what else can you recommend ?

Hi Jager - we are starved over here - I get most of my stuff from furniture auctions that have toys in them as well. There is a big shop opposite Central Markets in the middle of Adelaide that sells antique furniture but the owner is a toy buff - a bit dear for me though but worth a visit to see all the odd stuff in there. My big pig out is in June on the Queens Birthday weekend where we host the largest toy swap meet in Australia - about 250 tables! Goes for 2 days and I spend a fortune! Everyone seems to discount because of the competition. Plenty of Biantes too.

For the biggest range of old Dinkys check out Traffic Collectables. They are in Toorak at 570 Malvern Road. Their phone number is 95212522. I have been buying from them for over 8 years and their prices are the best I have found. Tell the owner Norm sent you - he always gives me a discount, but then I am retired. I travel to Melbourne twice a year to see my daughter and I always spend at least an hour at Traffic. They also have mountains of other stuff but I only go for the old toys - Corgis too.
