I collect these models because they are the best, I take them out of their boxes and display them in my cabinet. I try to order the models online but most of the time miss out. I go to my local model shop and most of the time I miss out there too, so now I have started ordering them through my local shop. The orders on here are one per customer but through the shops you can order as many as you want and people often buy in bulk then sell them at crazy prices. These people are not enthusiasts but people trying to make a quick buck and there are the genuine enthusiasts that miss out. I know this will create controversy but that is my view.
Yes i too have missed out on some good ones, but i think it happens to every one once,i find that if you deal off one shop and buy only of him he will look after you, some times pre order is the only way.I think there may be onother concern the fact that cars like the yellow cv8 and the very limited red r8 are still for sale at autart.com i only hope that they are part of the original numbers, or that might be enough for me!!!!!!!![

Check out the following post for your answer
Buying car direct from autoart
This forum is a great place to find out about up & comming models so that in future you wont miss out as you'll know what is comming & be able to get in good & early.
Finding a good shop that will look after you tends to be the biggest hurdle in this game, so once that is acheived, the rest just costs you money !!!!!
cheers.

This has only happened a few times to me, eg Dick Johnson Sierra and Brock VR Commodore. I am only new to this and have only recently discovered these cars, if non enthusiasts did not buy up in bulk and sell them at their crazy prices that you see on sold and ebay, some of these other cars may have still been available at the normal price.

Who determines the crazy prices on the auction sites - the sellers or the buyers ?
It is actually the real enthusiasts who buy up models in bulk to resell because in most cases the profits made on ebay are simply poured back into buying more models for their personal collection. I'm yet to meet anyone who has built a 3 storey home from his ebay profits but I meet plenty of fellow collectors who would not have been able to afford the collections they have if it wasn't for a bit of trading on the side (myself included).
Its a vicious circle, but if you can't beat them join them.....

The buyers always jump over each others bids in fear on missing out at ebay/sold/etc.
As for people buying and selling for profit, a fellow that lives one street away from me complained that he couldnt get either a Tuf Green XE, or a brock Torana. I went to my local store, which is four streets away, and bought both for my own collection. He saw them, and I was offered $300 for each. SOLD!! I told him to take a trip down to the store and get them cheaper, but the reply was "cant be bothered, i'll just get them from you".
The $140 profit from each model went straight into expanding my collection.
