Seen a car being driven around locally in Melbourne, has Race Paint written on the commodore. Wondering if a model could be done with the same effect [colour changes in the light].

That paint is most likely called harlequin, there are a few around they are tiny prisms in the clear coat that reflect light at diferent angles giving rainbow type effect, its about $1000.00 a ltr

2 colour flips are around $650 a litre, 3 colour flips closer to $1000 a litre. There is a paint distributor near my house that will mix them and put it into an aerosol can for small jobs, cost $340.
Ive tried asking a few spray painters for the leftovers, but they all commented that at $1000 a litre, there will never be any leftovers!! Any small amount would easily do a harley fuel tank (more $$$ for the painter than a model car), so they have a point.
Looks nice though doesnt it!!

being a spraypainter myself & painting quite a few various things other than cars in harlequin colours. i would gradly paint a bare shell in 1/18.
i have three different varaints of harlequin & yes it is the good stuff, yes it does cost $1000.00 a litre & they have 4 flips.
have green to purple, silver to pink (still cant find the silver in it thou) & the orginal colour mexican fire, which look brillant on a mates 930 porsche.
if anyone is game to lend a shell let me know.

hard to say at this moment cause ive never painted a model, but lets say you send me a bare shell with 50 bucks tucked inside to cover paint & postage & see how it goes.
that way it will give me more of an idea if im charging the right price for any future doings.

Ford boy, just start unscrewing the screws, and carefully prying off the sections that are glued. It took me a good three or fours hours of playing around, to pull down two cars, while i watched telly over a few nights.
