Im not sure I have seen this covered but to me thats a blatant attempt at illegal models hey ?
To put Brocks sig on cant be legal , making your own models is 1 thing but claiming its legit is another ?

I'm pretty sure it has been covered on the forum....

As far as I can see, the seller isn't saying it's "legit"

The model is a code 3, and it's stated in the listing

Also they state the PB sig is a signature PRINT.....they're not claiming it as real, whilst printing his sig on there may not be exactly tastefull to some, and the PB foundation etc may not approve, they do not claim it as a real sig

Some are better than others, matter of opinion. Plenty of this has been covered on the eBay thread...

Legit? Don't know, how is it illegitimate? Everything is disclosed in the auction as far as I can see (Code 3, printed sig, Autoart model etc).

I think "blatant attempt at illegal models" is a bit rich tho. I think there is a "I want to be a lawyer" forum around somewhere...

Enough said by me on this subject anyway.

Something else as a final word tho, how are these different to Designer's prints? Same theme, just executed in a different way (and perhaps with a bit less skill:))

I would not have thoght it legal to add his sig to a card even if it is just a print ??

I can only see 2 reasons for this model being illegal.

1/ It bears "cigarette advertising".

2/ It is advertising it is an AUTOart model. It is in fact an AUTOart model that is a Code 3, and being sold to make a profit using and maybe misleading the buyer into believing it is a Code 1 AUTOart manufactured model.

Code definitions:

Code 1 ~ Manufacturer / factory released.
Code 2 ~ Model is modified with manufacturers full approval.
Code 3 ~ Model is modified without the manufacturers approval.
Code 4 ~ One-off models produced by the manufacturer for special occasions. Company retirements etc.

Are we faced with the same dilemma here?

Theres plenty similar but the 1 I posted has a card thats obviously been manufactutred by the seller to replicate an original.

All that I can see state Code 3 including the Stanbridges PV that is fetching $450+ as we speak,

In your original post you're not really asking "Is This Legit?" your more saying that they are somehow not legitimate, have I got it right?

It's the same one as I posted in the ebay thread only this one is listed as #12/18 where the one in the ebay thread was listed as #3/18. Although, not that you can tell that from the actual certificate as it's still blank!!:rolleyes:

I'm not modifying anything from a manufacturer.
Prints are ground up, 100% my work...

No, don't get me wrong, I was saying it's basically the same theory ie old liveries on new cars.

How about this one?

To me all it looks like is the seller has bought a 1:64 VK SS Group 3, and slapped Mobil decals over it.

EDIT: Both from the same seller, Hmmmmm?

It's funny how the one mentioned in the original post has had double the views than this one from the same seller:

well it's not like this is the first thread to discuss them on this forum (remember about two weeks+ ago in the extreme eBay thread).....time to simply ignore them imho.

You'd be surprised how putting a link on this forum increases the bidding on model cars...

How could that ever be quantified?

Leigh
01-04-2008, 08:16 AM
It could if you had access to the links register at ebay...

I just notice that things I watch that are linked here generally have more hits and sell for more than other similar items...

yes it's rather annoying when watching something and someone posts a link to it in here, which usually means they get more $$$ & I don't win lol

I have sometimes wondered if the mention of something for sale by auction etc has been placed with the intention of drawing interest.

but that is part n parcel of being the member of a forum and it is also good cheap marketing.

we don't have to look or buy but the more interest shown the better for the item and the seller.

That in itself can create it's own issues hobby & something which I often view with a little cynicism.

Why? Because the rules of this forum stipulate that we can not advertise any of our own items, but what's to stop you posting something about what I'm selling? Plus who's to know/argue that you've done it yourself of your own back or I've asked you to do it?

Also (here's another floor) I wonder how many people actually have the exact same eBay username to what they have here? Odds are it's bugger all & so how would people know that the item they've found (& posted about on the forum) isn't actually their very own item ???

Hence why I seldom bid on items that are mentioned here.

I admit my Ebay name is different to forum name , Its the only 1 thats different and Im on over 20 odd forums , it just didnt feel right to use the same name , not that Im concerned bout what I buy but you never know what wierdos you find on Ebay , or scammers
Having said that , the sale I listed is deffinately not mine and dont want to encourage bidding on it at all , I just think its crossing a line when they blatantly make COA that replicate originals to try push prices up further , I guess the end of the day Ebay is there for people to try make money from.

Same here,

but i did buy 2 sets of the number plates that i hadn't heard of until i read it on the forum, also who had heard of icon models apart from first seeing it here and getting caught up in what type of car is it ?

these are only 2 examples
and i am glad that these and other items were brought to my attention by this great forum.
and as for advertising on the forum we all can be sort of guilty when we publicly direct a buyer to a seller or visa versa.
i myself have directed members to eg stanbridges, games n hobby, triking , ferrari fan etc and i am glad i could help.
