will this model be available here soon?

Le Mans (1971)
A thrilling look at the famed 24-hour French endurance race, starring Steve McQueen as an American driver out to beat a rival while romancing the widow of another driver. Great racing sequences (McQueen did his own driving); Elga Andersen, Siegfried Rauch co-star. 112 min.

We have had this model (A80030) in stock quite a few times since about March this year.
It will be back in stock, again, in January.
It's a fantastic model.

Terrine - admin's right; I've got one of the McQueen 917s and it is a stunning model! On the subject of model Porsches, anyone know an address for UT models, as my GT2 has lost some of the "chrome" on one of its wheels and I was hoping to get a replacement.

Nick,
UT models is no longer in business. The brand name "UT" belonged to Gateway Global and was phased out in 1999 while being replaced with the name...AutoArt. As for your problem, "melting" silver paint on wheels is a quite common occurence on all UT models and is well documented on other boards. You could try e-mailing AutoArt about your problem since technically its the same company (Gateway Global), but with a new name.

Regards,
Sergey

That's odd, I've never had a chromed UT Porsche wheel go bad, only some of the silver painted ones.

If you look closely the spokes are painted silver, but the outer rim is coated with what looks like metallised plastic, and it's this that is peeling off. Thanks Sergey, I'll give AutoArt a go - I've spent 3 months emailing them to track down a missing model, so they know me well by now!

Sorry, just looked at the thread header.
A80234 is the only one still in production.
I will check with China tomorrow if they are in stock and if so, get some.

I have had one of these for about 3 or 4 years if I am correct
#20 Blue/orange stripe Gulf-Porsche auto art 1/18 917k with the removable front hatch that gives access to the brakes etc.
Is there an updated model out of this?
The box has long gone so I cannot check the #
to me this is the Steve Mcqueen model.

is there any plans for further releases in the autoart mcqueen collection?

i was ferretting around and discovered that mcqueen finished second in the actual sebring 12 hour of 1970, narrowly losing (15 secs) to mario andretti in his 917k (of which aa produce a model).

he was driving a white porsche 908 #48

now that would be a great model

or does this model exist elsewhere?

Andretti was driving a Ferrari 512S(which, sadly NO ONE makes in 1/18). He took over the car after his own broke. He overtook McQueen as, he later said, he didn't want to be beaten by a movie actor.:D
Here's a link to the story.http://www.racinglines.com/article/articlest atic/2150/1/100/

There has been made a model of the 512 in resin in1/18 but the numbers were minisclule ,I do not have this one
another 1/18 model of a car that Ickx/Andretti drove is the 312P .
this model has been made and is coming up on Ebay now and them. For a short time in around 1996 this was available at SHELL petrolstations in U.K. and Holland plus I heard also in H.K.

sorry about that mix up with andrettis ferrari not porsche
.....dont let the truth get in the way of a good story i reckon

it is amazing the way history is recorded depending who is telling the story....

...Late in the afternoon Peter Revson attempted an inside pass at the wide 90 degree right hand turn that connected the two long back straights on the old Sebring course. The tiny white Porsche 908 roadster appeared out of nowhere as I was almost on top of that right hand turn at about 60 MPH, Revson got on the binders an instant too late and got pinched at the apex. The Steve McQueen/Peter Revson machine suffered a broken left front headlight and the Alfa a caved in passenger door. Word ran through the pits, and one of Mario's crew passed it on to Pete, that Revson was on his way to our pits to "discuss" the incident, but he never showed. Later I had the misfortune of running into Steve at the latreen, and to my horror he recognized me. As we were walking away, I smiled and awkwardly mumbled "sorry Steve". He blinked his eyes twice, broke into that grin just like that cool, laid back kid in The Great Escape and mumbled back: "no sweat". . That night Steve and Peter were forced to change the headlight. While they were in the pits Mario took the lead. Their heroic eleventh hour attempt to catch Mario fell an incredible fifteen seconds short when the checkered flag fell....

I've got that Shell edition Ferrari 312P. More a toy than a replica. Even Mattel Ferraris are more replicas!:(

There ain't many around and come with a 44 gallon petrol bowser race refiller rig with shell logo on it
If I say correctly done through a comp. in Asia called M.R.? also a turquoise testa rossa with old style bowser was part of this set.
This is the only (mass) produced model of this car and it looks great in amongst the other great Ferrari race models
Enzo Ferrai called it his two seater Formula 1 (ahead of it's time ,again, 20 years in front of Ron Dennis,Who must have stolen the idea:D )
Tim Schenken also drove the 312P(B) with great results and that is what he is known for in the possitive sense
