According to this Publication from FORD titled " A Century of Winning" ,there is a claim that in 1967" Ford Australia pulled from the productionline!!, a Pursue pack Falcon V8 Family sedan, (destined for the Policeforce!?), Painted it up ,drove it up to Bathurst, onto the podium and straight up the nose of General Motors "
Page 50 of the publication.

another fact ; Australian GP won in 1937 by O.S. Cranston from Perth in a 1936 FORD convertible with only the mudguards removed!! there were no ferrari's as yet here in good old AUS!
at an average speed of over 120 kp/h for the duration of 31/2hours! Eat your hart out on that Glen Seaton :D
these were the day's when there were no pesky Holdens to glog up the race track and keep the breakdown recovery vehicles flat out. :p

The Gallaher 500 at Bathurst in 1967 was won by Harry Firth and Fred Gibson, driving one of the three Ford 'works team' XR Falcon GT's.

There were seven GT's in the race in Class D and one Falcon V8 automatic sedan entered in Class C.

Although the public could only buy the GT in the one gold-bronze colour, some cars that raced featured different colours, as did a special batch of twelve GT's painted in silver especially for the race sponsor. Fred Gibson's winning car was painted dark green.
