I've been watching the V8's these past few years, since Speedchannel started showing the races, and I've been wondering about the diecast. I see that there are a few companies that produce the V8's. Which offer the best detail? and why no 1/24th scale pieces? Is there a place that would list what has been made?, like a magazine that lists values, etc? Thanks!

Bianti and Classic Carlectables NOW both make very good detail cars in 1/18 and 1/43 scale, it all comes down to which teams you want to collect.
DJR, BJR, TWR = Bianti.
MLR, FTR, CPR = C'C's.

Classic Carlectables until recently made 1:18 models where the doors, bonnet etc did not open. These models were around $80 AUS dollars but now Classics are making highly detailed models like Biante.

These new Classic models have only just been released but what I have seen are very good.

So now we have two model makers to choose from that produce highly detailed cars.

There are other manufacturers (Dinkum, Trax) out there also but these, in my opinion are not as good as the current Biante & Classic models.

www.gatewaymodels.com.au have a good list to look at for prices and whats out there.

check www.ebay.com.au and www.sold.com.au Biante also lists their Australian cars released on this site

1:24 scale models?, there are some but not many by other manufacturers.

Don't forget the Betta team as well.
Unfortunately there hasn't been a true Max Wilson Falcon, with all of the dints on the cars !!!!!:D :D
cheers.

Just think, All those dents will be on a DJR cars next year, but at least it will get into the shoot outs.:D

If Wilson joins DJR in 03, then Dick must have more money than sense !!!

Surely the Rat expirement is enought to sway Dick away from another crash 'n' bash driver like Wilson. (I hear that in testing that Wilson stepped into the DJR car & lapped Qld raceway in 0.6sec faster than RAT & Jr could all year - his comments after driving the car was "what a piece of #$%& !!!)

Ritter must have really upset the Boss at Bathurst to miss out on the drive, thats assuming there's one at DJR - I hear that Ford management want to keep Ritter & are looking to either Konica or an endurance drive to keep him in 2003!!!

cheers.

Canuckfan......you can also look on this site for models we make.[URL=http://www.biante.com.au] Everyone seems to forget we have a website as well as a forum.
We also make Team Brock and Team Betta plus the most comprehensive range of 1:18th Australian road cars ever seen in diecast.
The reason no 24ths..in Australia they are considered the "toy" scale.

As an aside, I take exception to most of the comments re Max Wilson...he has never seen, let alone driven an AU before...has never seen any of the tracks before...and yet gets into the shootout 10 times from 13 rounds!!
Plenty of so called heroes out there who have been going around for many many years that didn't feature in half as many shootouts as Max this year.
He will be a driver to wach next year for sure.

I'm Sorry Admin,
To Disagree with you but I dont consider a $350.00, 1:24 scale a Toy.

That's a pretty expensive Broooom through the Sand Pit.

I agree with admin about Max Wilson, I hope he goes really well in 2003 (any Ford driver for that matter :) )

7Litre....There are exceptions to any rule, but generally the 1:24 scale is a toy.
Thats why when nearly all manufacturers make 1:24 scale as well as 1:18ths, no-one stocks the 24ths. (with maybe the exception of a few Burago).

Thanks!, I did sign up for the collecters club, and I can't wait for the new 2003 1/64th's.
I now know what Falcon's are available for 2002, so now begins my quest to collect them.
That's too bad about the 1/24th size, it seems to be the size of choice here in north america, were the 1/64th and 1/18th are more the "toy" sizes available at most of the larger discount retailers.
If you've never seen a Team Caliber piece before, your missing out, it seems to be the one to beat, with all that it offers. Check out www.teamcaliber.com , to see what they have.

Greetings form the US, Canuckfan
If you've started out with collecting NASCAR models like I've had, it'll take time to adjust to bigger models. However, I wouldn't call any scale "toy-like" or "collectors-like" either since both, toys and collectible models are made in any scale. For now, the value is definitely in 1:18 scale which offers somewhat easier to swallow prices and wide selection. If you are after Aussie tourers, I would recommend checking out Canadian-based www.scale18.com, which carries some model from the Binate range.

Regards,
Sergey

Like i said Admin, At least the DJR cars will be seen in a few Shootouts this year if we get "Mad" Max Wilson.
I don't mind a few dents if they bring results with them.

Sergey,
thanks for the heads up! I just bought my first Biante diecast. It's a 1/18th, 00 Motorsport Falcon, I like the paint scheme, next month will be the Bowe or the Jones, not sure yet.

Thanks again!!

Canuckfan,
I'm glad that you took me up on my advice. Lowndes is a really popular driver. Unfortunately, right now he struggles since the current Ford Falcon couldn't compete with its Holden counterpart.
As for me, I stick with Bathurst cars. I'll recommend that instead of Bowe's or Jones' Falcon, you'll pick up 2001 Skaife/Longhurst Bathurst winning VX. In the long run, this model would be hard to get since the production run is only 3,000 pcs. Please keep in my mind that like with NASCAR models only the top drivers and/or winners hold their value, and money is always in short supply.

Cheers,
Sergey
