I actually try to discourage relatives from buying 1:18 cars as gifts for me, as I'd prefer to pick them out myself.

thats a great collection there. My dad goes for all those types too.

Hey Glen, i hate to disagree with you. There are actually alot of Matchbox/Hotwheels cars with great significance.

EG:

Although they are only 1:64 scale and only were a few bucks retail, some of them have actually increased in value 10 fold.

Geez..........some serious money tied up in your collections guys.

I have two cabinets which are full and am trying to persuade the wife to 'allow' me to buy another one or two.

I cannot write down all the models I have as I can't be stuffed but i have a great mixture of V8 Supercars (both Biante & CC), British Touring Cars, Top Fuel Dragsters, GT Falcons, British Sports Cars, American Muscle & Road Cars, Many Road Cars.

Across most scales from 1:64 through to 1:18.

I have taken some pics of my cabinets but I know they are too big too post. I'll have to work out how to trim them to fit later.

I collected a lot of my models in various countries when I travelled in the 90's, particularly in Switzerland, and Italy.

I even collect Slot Cars in 1:32 scale. The detail in these cars, particularly the FLY & NINCO, are getting better and better.

My collection is to vast to bore all you people with long lists, while as you all know I am a Ford Man through and through, Fords only make up about half óf my collection with about, dare I say it 1/4 of models being of a Holden make. I collect all Model manufacturers, Biante, CC's, Matchbox, Trax, Franklin Mint, Dinkum, and a few lesser Brands. I have been collecting for the last 16 or so years. My Dad got me started, and to date his collection is worth about six figures, 40 or so years of collecting.
My collection is influenced by my love of V8 Racing, wether it be Modern V8 Supercars or the V8's of days gone. Another big influence like many other collectors is collecting the cars that I grew up around, Cortinas, Falcons, Monaros, Kingswood, Zephers, etc.

All You good people herein Perth should consider joining the Modelcar car club even solely as to be able to display your pride and joy's once a year to the appreciating public. It truely is a lot of fun ,and a great opportunity to get to speak to and meat more diecast collectors. So far ,every year the Aussie collection has been under represented for the interest that it has.
We can make sure that through this forum there will be no duplication of themes ,which is never been the case anyway.

Jagermeister Collection
Approx 25 Jagermeister sponsored racing cars from BMW, Porsche, Alfa Romeo, Ford and Opel from the German Sportscar or Touring Cars series. The Germans seem to pay silly prices for these models (eg A$180 for the Minichamps ‘Jagermeister’ Porsche 956).

Alfa Romeo Collection
Approx 100 Alfa Romeo race and road cars, many of which are not available in Australia including models of the 5 Alfa’s I’ve owned.

Alessandro Nannini Collection
Nannini was an up and coming F1 star with Benetton in the late 80’s whose career was halted by a helicopter accident that severed his arm. Amazingly, after microsurgery he returned two years later to top level touring car and sportscar racing in Europe in the 1990’s before retiring at the end of 1997. I have models of 8 different cars driven by Nannini in his career plus other memorabilia.

All the above models are 1:43 collected over 12 years from Minichamps, Vitesse, Quartzo, IXO, Bang, Best, Brumm, Detail Cars, Eagles Race, Kyosho, RIO, Solido, Spark, Norev, Max Models, Progetto K, Tamiya & Trofeu.

Yes it is not the numbers of models nor the value of a collection!
The excitement comes from opening the box and removing a long waited model,a car that has a certain place in YOUR collection.
I get an extra thrill !!! if I can sometimes buy a model (at what I would call) cheap! or the first kid on the block to have a new model.
Most important is the people I have meet....that also share the passion for model cars.These friends have proved invaluable in obtaining some race cars and a wealth of imformation.

Heh chocman - I know what you mean :) I have a few model collecting friends and we almost have this small competition going on who is going to get a certain model before others.

At the same time we do help each other too. It's nice to have friends who share your passion.

Have you got the 5 set of pic of the Sierra, XD, XE, EL & AU where they have been super-inposed onto different parts of the track at Bathurst ???

I got Dick to autograph all of mine at the Island, shortly after his last Bathurst race in 2000.

One day soon I will get them framed to put up in my house when it is finished next year.

Brad they are the best pictures the DJR set of 5. I am in the same boat. We are waiting to build our house and these gems will be framed and have a special place in the house.

There are some on Ebay at the moment and they want 115 (so far) each for them framed. There was a guy on fordforums.com who was asking 600 bucks for the set and that was not framed.

Well am I jealous! There are so many great collections that I don't know where to start!!
My collection is all Australian 'muscle cars'. I should attempt to scale down, but WHY?? My collection consists of GT Falcons (XW, XY, XA), Brock racers (L34, A9X, VR), and HSV's (VTII, GTO/S Coupes, Walky, Clubby, and a Holden Monaro- the original concept.
On the otherhand, 1:43 dominates my collection- cost I guess. But I still tend to go berserk and purchase 1 of every colour- I did with the Biante XY's anyhow! So in total, I have 25 Biante's and 29 Trax models (12 Bathurst racers), from my 3 years colecting. Where will it end? I don't know, and don't really care as long as they appeal to me, so happy collecting everyone!!!:)
