View Full Version : VL Walkinshaw in transit
The VL Walkinshaw Road car is now showing as "in transit" with a price of $120-00 + GST. What effect is this going to have on the old stock that are selling on some auction sites for $185-00 plus?
Might be a good time to grab one of these now at this bargain price.

It's going to be an interesting concept with this release, because I think that Biante should stamp the Certificates with 'Second Edition' on them. This wouldn't lower the value of the Early Releases.

i think most of you might remember the post i originally started regarding the second lot of vl commodores......
the official word from biante is that this second lot is actually the first lot which wasnt really made....yet....
all they are doing now is completing the series.....
i think most of you will also remember my feelings regarding this type of situation......

whilst its good to know that SOME models are worth a bit of money, i don't really care because i don't ever want to sell my models.
I've said this before, I would like to see Biante re-release previous models when the demand is there.
For you people that sell models for a profit i know you will disagree. I have no problem with Biante releasing the second batch of these cars, I wish they would do it all the time.
So it goes either two ways, you either want to make money or you are worried about the value of the models or (like me) would like to get previously released models at the original retail price.

Like Bathurstfan, I don't plan on selling any of mine. My international location makes it fiscally foolish, anyway.
Perhaps the threat, however slight, of re-release would give some hoarders pause before they exit their local store with multiples of the latest release.

I hope the second run VL Walkinshaw is exactly the same as the first run in all respects.
12000 total is a lot of models to have around so everybody who wants one should be able to get one at a more than reasonable price.
Personally I wouldn't give a stuff if my models were worth nothing. I bought them for what they are, what they represent and for the memories they evoke but I didn't buy them in the hope that one day they would be more valuable than the day I bought them.
If you're worried about the value of your collection going up and down then maybe your collecting for the wrong reasons.
I'm with you Bathurstfan, bring on the re-releases.

i also collect these models purely for the joys and emotions but i would have to disagree with yous on the re-releases.
i dont collect to make a profit but i like the tracking down and finding that rare model at the right price. i wont buy cars at over inflated prices (about $200 limit) but i enjoy hunting down cars and if you look long and hard enough, you will find them. i wouldnt enjoy it as much if i gould just walk into a shop and pick it up.

Id still like to know why the car wasnt relesed in full to begin with. Admin stated that it was a partial release so the supplier could prove they could supply on time, and with an excellent quality level.
But, the VL Bathurst was released not long after... Im curious why the VL Walky wasnt released in full. Id say it was because the market was flooded, and Biante would have been caught with 5000 or so models... but, im only guessing :)
If there had been a quality issue, and some components needed to be changed, what would the members feel about this?? I wonder if we would have been informed. Could it technically be called the same model?
Hypothetically speaking of course...

I guess the only question now is how many other models weren't fully sold out and when will they be re-releasing them. I recently bought a VL Walkinshaw and am dissapointed to find out that if i had of waited i could of bought it a lot cheaper. I would like to know if any others will be re-released so that i dont get caught out paying to much again.

As it has been stated before.....yawn.....its not as if the VL has been remade to fill another 12,000 spots its the last part of the original quota....and as for 're-releases' could you imagine the controversy that would spark. I mean look at some of the reactions shown about the VL some people may have spent $100 more purchacing the car off a private seller....who cares?
I spent $750 in 1999 buying a Moffat 65e......they are a lot cheaper now but it finishes off the display and Im happy......if you guys are true collectors and arent worried about resale why not save your bucks and buy a Track red or an Ultra white or whatever and stop harping on about re-releasing past vehicles.
You dont see people digging up Picasso to paint another portrait because they missed out on an original at retail.

I'm with you 307, I mean honestly guys I've heard less whinging at a C.W.A. meeting.
Do you boys know what limited edition means? There was 6000 of the 65E made, of course not everyone can have one, but people are selling them .........it's quite simple really ......if you want one, buy one.
Admin has already said that this model won't be re-released so stop pining over it and either buy one off a private collector or dont. Im pretty sure Admin has better things to do than read this crap all day.

Hey Donella -
While I've loved Aussie cars for quite some time, I've only recently discovered Biante. Over the past two months, I've been doing exactly as you suggest.
As I focus only on 1/18 road cars, the new HT GTS is the first I've been able to buy during an actual release.
I understand I have to pay my dues for entering the game late, but can't I whinge just a little? (I knew 'whinge', but I had to look up CWA).

speaking of the Ford Laser/Mazda 323, is there a model of any of these released anywhere in the world?
I know an Australian model would not exist, but maybe of another version of this car from another country ?
My wife has a 2002 Ford Laser KQ.

We obviously don't have the Ford Laser, but, after checking it out, it sure looks like the Mazda 6, here in the States.
After further investigation, it looks like you have that, too. My mistake !

If you knew anything about Australian vehicles you would know that seatbelts were mandatory in all australian complianced vehicles after 1965........ my laser (1990) is obviously after that date ..........you figure it out. As for top speed, 110kph is the speed limit here .........(because my ego is not testosterone enhanced) ...... thats all it needs to do.
And as for your underpants fetish, what you get up to in the privacy of your own home while your fantasising about schumacher is not something that any of us want to know about.

Bathurstfan, I got in front of me a 1/45 scale model of a ford telstar and or Mazda 626 from Tomica Dandy #dj-017. In this series were made so way out models like Subaru rex vx supercharged Daihatsu MIRA turbo trxx nissan prairy 4wd and the like I somehow got all these sort of models don't ask me how:D So it may be worth your while to look in these sort of area's to maybe get what you want.
