I was looking on the Ford website last night & saw that Ford has released the rrp for the XR8 ute.
The Barra XR8 Boss 260kw Ute
5spd manual $40,925 + ORC
4spd SSS Auto $41,845 + ORC
Now if this hasn't got Holden & HSV shaking in their boots then nothing will.
At 260kw for $40,925, it has to be one of the most powerfull road car for its' price in almost the whole world.
ALSO,
I've just been looking & the sedan's prices & they are now there.
Barra XR8 Boss 260kw Sedan
5spd manual $50,130 + ORC
4spd SSS Auto $51,050 + ORC
WOW !!!!!!!!!
With these prices, Ford shoud be on the their big way back to the top !!!!!!!
I'd hate to have just bought a HSV Clubsport, as they now appear to be a rather overpriced vehicle if your comparing kw's to $$$'s
cheers.
Yipee!!! I've just saved 10 grand!!!
Had my backside in a blueprint sedan (XR8) this arvo.
Thought they were closer to mid 50's.......
Either way, I'm still dreaming!!
Maybe in a few more years.

It takes more than just KWs, to make a car a best seller.
I read somewhere that Fords actually out sold holden in the month of december.
I think ford are on a winner with this shape though, especially as holden has released a Magna/Lancer look Commodore.

Actually Holden has outsold Ford up until the end of Dec.
Holden still retain the number 1 spot, followed by toyota in 2nd and Ford in 3rd spot. They are the figures for total sales. The commodore is still australias number 1 selling large family car up to 31 Dec 02.I got those figures from last Saturdays sydney morning hearld.

Why would you compare an XR8 to a HSV Clubsport?
The direct equivalent model is the SS Commodore..at $49,450 for a 6 speed.
Price an FPV against a HSV Clubsport

As I said before if your were comparing kw's to $$$ then the XR8 is substancally cheeper than its nearest competitor which for equal kw's is the HSV Clubsport.
ie 260kw XR8 $50,130 + orc
vs
260kw Clubsport $58,200 + orc
Considering the lack of power the SS has (235kw vs 260kw), this is why I did not consider it to be a fair competitor (this could be a point we could argue forever) to the Barra XR8, hense my writing.
cheers.
ps
on that FPV vs Clubsport note,
it is rumored that the Falcon GT will be just under 60 grand !!!!!
290kw Falcon GT vs 260kw Clubsport both around 60 grand
= Holden still very worried !!!
:D :D

What if we throw in the SUBARU range ,like the WRX(four wheel drive) and the new B4 TWIN Turbo (4 wheel drive)
If you can and want to go QUICK these two above will win other than maybe a straight line! KiloWatts is not the determining factor ,TORQUE is!
The new Holden is as ugly as the old ford.
The new Ford is as nice as the old Holden.
Ferrari whatever model is better by a mile than any of the above :D

Seems that Ferrari will never win car of the year in Australia nor will they ever if they use cartoons like Speed Racer to design there cars. Not saying the Enzo looks bad , but thats 1970's technology!!
Wake up O chocolate lips !!!!
Nothing could be finer than driving a 69er....

69,
I could almost agree with the "Nothing could be finer than driving a 69er" comment. I prefer the 66, the 69 would be my second choice. :)

I tend to disagree about the power comparisons.
You have to remember that they compared the 220kW VT SS to the 185kW AU XR8.
Also, on a good note for Ford, Ford out-sold Holden in WA last month and the bridging the gap in other states.

At the end of the day if liking a Ford is an imposible feat for certain Holden fans, it wouldnt matter if the HSV range were powered by steam and XR8's were 500kw and $20 each, they'd still go for the Holden and vise versa......its preference.
It wouldnt matter if both cars were faultless, a bias view will always prevail and both cars turn to sh... quickly. :D

Good point. No matter how much better the Falcon or Commodore may be, there are still people that won't drive the other brand.
Not trying to bash Holden here, but if they didnt have loyal fans they would strugle to sell any cars at all.
Although a few are changing sides, at FAF there are probally about 4 members that have previously had Commodores that have now changed to XR6Ts, theres even a Holden Forum Moderator that has bought a Turbo.

This dedate is getting nowhere. The facts are that 50% of you are wrong and 50% of you are right. Now would the 50% wrong people please go and play with your Commodores. The rest of us ford winners will play with the GOOD cars.:D

I don't thats going to help:D
But when peoples minds are already made up there is no way you can have a good discussion.
Ford VS Holden arguements normally turn into wars so I don't think this is the best place to start one.

Went to local Ford dealer today and saw new XR8. Looks like XR6 except for bonnet bulge and badges. Interior is same. Wheels same. Wing same. BUT, maybe a tad faster.

if holden are on the way down and fords are so great then why oh why is the HSV GTS on the cover of the wheels year book and theres a write up on preformance commodores? oh i must of forgotten that forw won coty. hang on, i guess Wheels did too, on the coty cover what was it pasted right across the cover? hmmmm it was a holden, but dont worry there was a little picture of the BA down the bottom there somewhere (about 2cm X 3cm) hell, even the barina was big and proud on the cover when they won. it goes to show what sells. if they thought aford winning something would sell then they would of made a note of it, but instead they thought holdens nicest concept cat yet would sell copies. so Holden arent going anywhere just yet (except for america which is another point aswell!)
