Diecast Walkabout - Info

[Road Runner 72]

Here is what I have been working on, as to keep it organized & fair for all.
Don't forget the whole idea of this concept is that all of us Biante members can have some fun & be involved in a diecast pass the parcel! It might give you the chance to meet some members in your own state as well as meet up with some old friends.

POSTAGE
How does postage work – this is where us members will be working it out, as when you get the car you will be posting the car to the next person, also some will be meeting up & passing it over face to face, so it is the members responsibility of getting the car to the next person, if people need help with postage cost please bring it up & we will see if we can work it out!
It will be packed into a box that can be reused, so all you have to do is repack it when you have finished with the car print out the next person who will be receiving the car address & stick it on and post it, I will have my address on the box as the poster in case it gets returned.
Also if you will be travelling to races & such just take the car in its Biante box & take care with it on the road as the car will be getting handled a lot on its trip & I know small accidents can happen, so please treat it as one of your own!
Now with the N.Z. members this will be looked into, but I feel we can work out some way of getting it over to you gents & that goes for our UK & Canadian friend’s.

TIME FRAME ONE HAS WITH CAR
How Long does the car stay with each member - There is a time limit you have with the car, as we want to keep this moving & not lose the car, you can have the car up to two weeks but please try to average it to a week, it’s just more of a common courtesy for the next person in line who will receive the car, also some people want to take it to some races, I feel it’s going to be a luck of the draw thing, as it will be going state by state, but I feel most members would agree that the one it will make without fail is Bathurst, and the car will get posted back to me 2 weeks before the race to be organized!

THE ROUTE FOR THE CAR – MAP TO THE MEMBERS
How do I know when the car is coming to me – The car will be travelling state by state (Apart from the trip to Bathurst) as to save postage costs of posting back and forth, the member name will be posted as to who has the car at the time so every know where it is & how close it is to them.
There will be a member per state (Any members please feel free to put your hand up to help with this) who will be the planer of that states route & can work out details with all of that states members as they will be keeping track of it for that state.
Who do I give my Address to - As I have had some pm’s with people addresses, I don’t need them as the only people who will get your address will be the person who will be sending you the car as well as that states planer to keep track of it.
There will be a little diary along with the car for the members to put the date & where it visited, also feel free to right a small journal of its visit, what you guys got up to while the car stayed with you, mmmmm wonders how many drinks the car will have on its trip lol!

NEW MEMBERS
Can we trust new members – Well this whole idea will be working on trust between us members, for the new members as some are fine as they are friends of older members, and we don’t have that many new members involved yet, but some sort of reference from somewhere will be good.
The states planner can look into it if need be.

PHOTOS - POSTCARDS
What do I do when I have the car – Easy take a couple of photos with the car in them showing where it’s been, just like postcards from its trip, showing us where it has been on its walkabout, I feel the members will come up with some wonderful & funny photos, also feel free to stick you head in a photo or keep it tucked away behind the camera as the choice is all up to you so have fun!

WRITE YOUR USER NAME ON CAR
What do I sign on the car - the only thing that will be signed on the car will be your Biante member user name, that’s the screen name we all see on the Biante forum, please no race driver signatures on the car, your more than welcome to ask them to sign box or if it has a COA.
Where Do I write my name on the car – on a free spot anywhere you like, panels or windows anywhere it’s all up to you, don’t think of a spot to write your name as that’s not important, just as long as your names is on the car.
Also there have been people asking how do we fit all of our names on it, easy you keep it small as we can fit a whole lot on there, so please no big names so they stand out, as nail polish remover fixes that problem remember, as I would hate to have to remove someone’s name due to it being too big, keep this in mind.

The end of the walkabout
Where does it end – It will finish up Pitstop model cars, on display in the shop for all to see (I asked Larry if that was okay, as I don’t want to touch the advertisement issue, but honestly feel that is the best place for all to see the car)
Hoping this will be a trip to remember & is wonderful that so many are taking part, who knows if this goes really well maybe we can do a race meeting walkabout in the future....

All sounds really good Mike.:)Just a couple of qustions ideas also. Its nothing big, I think someone should buy a permanent marker or something to travel around with the car to keep all the sigs the same colour, thickness etc.
And what happens if the car becomes completely full of sigs and there is no more room? There are 45 members who have expressed interest so far and I'm not sure if everyones username would fit.

And like I said I feel we could add all the names if we keep them to a standard small size, as I could get 10 names on a door alone, as some user names are small & then like mine very big, just have to keep in mind to leave room as we go!

Well this is why I need a planner for each state, as they can pm all that states members and organise with the members what the best route for the trip is, as some will be handing it over or even just putting there name on it while they meet up. Will make things a lot safer as to keep track of the car.

So please feel free to volunteer as I stil need planners for QLD, W.A., ACT & N.Z. as Tassie & N.T. are fine for now as we see ;)

No, car has been picked up last Wednesday and is slowly making it's way to the first member. Just the AGP got in the way.

Thats why its stated write small keep it to the same size as the other names on the car & use a bit of sence as where you write your name thinking about room for all the other names.
As like I said I would hate to have to remove a name if its Bold or to big!

We can fit over 100 signatures with comments on cards when people leave/get married etc at work.

I'm sure we can cope with 50 or 60 names on a diecast.

This is probably already happening, but it might be a good idea to include a 'fineline' permanent texta with the model so that people don't use their 1cm nib poster texta's;)

Like Leigh said, people can fit 100 names on a birthday card, so around 60 will be fine, in a year? no real time limit for how long it will take, just as long people have the car for about a week, two max & some might sign it & pass it on on the right away.

Thanks again for the offer of your car, I didnt wan't to rush into this & wanted to organise this the best way, there is some work involved & also making sure every one uderstands the guidlines so we can have some real good fun!

Okay Gent's here is the updated guidlines, please read through them & ask any questions if you don't understand or want more info on something! (Thanks Mal for all your help & getting this off to a smooth start & Andrew for the added help)

One of the added things is a small diary that will travel along with the car.


Diecast Walkabout - Info

POSTAGE
How does postage work – this is where us members will be working it out, as then you get the car you will be posting the car to the next person, also some will be meeting up & passing it over face to face, so it is the members responsibility of getting the car to the next person, if people need help with postage cost please bring it up & we will see if we can work it out!

It will be packed into a box that can be reused, so all you have to do is repack it when you have finished with the car print out the next person who will be receiving the car address & stick it on and post it, I will have my address on the box as the poster in case it gets returned.

Also if you will be travelling to races & such just take the car in its Biante box & take care with it on the road as the car will be getting handled a lot on its trip & I know small accidents can happen, so please treat it as one of your own!

TIME FRAME ONE HAS WITH CAR
How Long does the car stay with each member - There is a time limit you have with the car, as we want to keep this moving & not lose the car, you can have the car up to two weeks but please try to average it to a week, it’s just more of a common courtesy for the next person in line who will receive the car, also some people may want to take it to some races, I feel it’s going to be a luck of the draw thing, as it will be going state by state, I feel most members would agree that the one it will make without fail is Bathurst, and the car will get posted back to me 2 weeks before the race to be organized!

THE ROUTE FOR THE CAR – MAP TO THE MEMBERS
How do I know when the car is coming to me – The car will be travelling state by state (Apart from the trip to Bathurst) as to save postage costs of posting back and forth, the member name will be posted as to who has the car at the time so every know where it is & how close it is to them.

There will be a member per state who will be the planner of that state’s route & can work out details with all of that state’s members as they will be keeping track of it for that state. Who do I give my Address to - The only people who will get your address will be the person who will be sending you the car as well as that state’s planner to keep track of it.

DIARY / STORY
There will be a little diary included with the car for the members to put the date & where it visited, also feel free to right a small journal of its visit, what you guys got up to while the car stayed with you. Please also send me a Private Message (RoadRunner72) with a description of the car’s stay with you and links to any photos. I will be posting this to a thread about the car’s journey. Feel free to post anything in the main Walkabout thread. Remember to keep it clean as this is a family forum and members who receive the car after you may be offended.

PHOTOS - POSTCARDS
What do I do when I have the car – Easy take a couple of photos with the car in them showing where it’s been, just like postcards from its trip, showing us where it has been on its walkabout, I feel the members will come up with some wonderful & funny photos, also feel free to stick you head in a photo or keep it tucked away behind the camera as the choice is all up to you so have fun!

WRITE YOUR USER NAME ON CAR
What do I sign on the car? - the only thing that will be signed on the car will be your Biante member user name, that’s the screen name we all see on the Biante forum, please no race driver signatures on the car, your more than welcome to ask them to sign the box. There should be a permanent marker included with the car for this purpose, so please pack it back in the box for the next person!

Where Do I write my name on the car - on a free spot anywhere you like, panels or windows anywhere it’s all up to you, don’t think of a spot to write your name as that’s not important, just as long as your names is on the car. There will be a temp banner on the top part of the windscreen, as there is a plan for it, so do not write you name on the banner as it WILL BE REMOVED!!

Also there have been people asking how do we fit all of our names on it, easy you keep the writing small as we can fit a whole lot of user names on there, so please no big names so they stand out, as nail polish remover fixes that problem remember, as I would hate to have to remove someone’s name due to it being too big, keep this in mind.

The end of the walkabout
Where does it end – It will finish up Pitstop Model Cars, on display in the shop for all to see (I asked Larry if that was okay, as I don’t want to touch the advertisement issue, but honestly feel that is the best place for all to see the car)

Hoping this will be a trip to remember & is wonderful that so many are taking part, who knows if this goes really well maybe we can do a race meeting walkabout in the future....

He has a few small one as I feel he's going to get more ;) as the old ones (decals) Lazman removed, so he still a little naked but as he travels more they will start showing up in photos.

More photos were added to the photo thread, great photos from the gents so far and Rev is moving along well now!

Okay Gents & fans of Rev! It is now locked & no more people will be added onto the tour.

Andrew great little story & thanks for keeping the photos to around 10 :p but it was ok as you wrote the story & mapped out the photos so it all fit together easy!

Looks like Rev had a great time & your had fun showing him around, are people taking photos early in the morning to not get seeen? lol I wonder who the 1st non shy person will be to have a photo with a bunch of people in the background!
