Hey smokey_dj, I have a set of front and rear bumpers and side skirts off a HSV coupe that i'm looking to get rid of. Would you consider swapping for the VT SS bumpers and skirts you have at the moment? I've also got all the lenses and lights and I think I might have the rear spoiler around here too.

I just pulled apart a Mk1 Escort to have a go at Moffats car
I only managed to break 1 front axle, :o I don't think they were made to come off, to get to the scews under the front wheels.

How'd you go with pulling the Holden apart ?

im actualy suprised more ppl dont do it i founf it really easy apart from one poiunt when i was fooled into thinking there was a screw holding on that didnt exist turned out to be 2 screws that were on the wheel arch and ray helped me find them which i really appreciated

i did have to "invent" a new tool though good ol bent mini screwdriver :p i recon if i was going to do one of these again id have it apart within an hour if it was the same setup

there really isnt that much too them most of the time is waiting for the freezer to do it job of making the glue brittle

Rascot
25-05-2009, 05:24 PM
No, don't use it on any plastic parts, it will stuff them. you can remove paint from the plastic parts with metho or just give them a light sand and then a couple of coats of primer.

supa-roo
25-05-2009, 05:28 PM
Ray
While you mention primer, what sort do u use on the stripped metal ?

smokey_dj
25-05-2009, 05:30 PM
haha i wasnt going to without asking about it first geeze ray youll be sick of me b4 im finished on this one

i too hadnt thought about primer yet or other little things ill need along the way

I don't mind helping you guys out. You should use an etch primer first & then a primer, I use a white primer on my models.

Has anybody got any pictures of the Moffat Mk1 Escort ??
I've got a couple but we need to work out a couple of decals
The one on the front guard in front of the wheel and the one just behind the door in front of the back wheel

Any help would be appreciated

25-05-2009, 07:12 PM
Just so you guys know, it isn't completely necessary to paint strip the cars. Giving the factory paint a rub with some fine wet'n'dry gives a very good base for any new paint to stick to, colour can be applied straight over the top. Same with the plastics.
