Just a little note to our fellow collecters(and i know there are a few) who reside in or near Canberra, that our thoughts are with you all, and hope that you have come out of it okay.

Well said Oh Five.

I SMS'd a couple of collectors today to see if they are alright and everything is alright currently with them. Hopefully everyone else comes through Ok.

I know of many collectors in Canberra and recognised a few effected suburbs from website orders so fingers crossed that everyone is safe.

It was a very sad day down here for sure, but the whole of Canberra has pulled together and is helping each other out. The best in people comes out in bad times. A few of my friends lost their house's, I was lucky as my place is about 10km from Duffy, and not much happened around me. There was alot of ash and embers falling from the sky, basically all of Canberra was on alert.
At about 2:30 in the afternoon it was as dark as Midnight and there was a strange feeling in the air. There are a lot of very sad people here, there are still fires around and the air is very smoky.
Hopefully the worse is behind us,
Thanks for you thoughts,
Lachlan.

Thanks for the thoughts. We were down the coast, & stayed there for the kids' sake, but rushed home last night when our side of town was placed on alert.
We just unpacked, repacked this morning, sent wife & kids to my mum's & mostly spent the day on the roof watching the hills just to the west & preparing for a fight. The local oval is about 1 km away & I was able to watch those humungous Ericsson Skycranes go in & out all day as they are using the oval as an airfield. They're an impressive aircraft.
The alert has blown over for now with the easterly change finally arriving at about 8:45 pm so here's hoping.

Yep, sure hope everyone down there will be alright, and that the people that have lost everything will be able to bounce back soon!!
I have 8 years experience in the fire service here, and I was blown away by the conditions the firies had to work with in Canberra...
I've never been involved in something like those though!
You have to go fight a fire to understand!!!

Hey Richard,
are there any "UNWANTED" prototypes lying around that Biante might put up for auction to help out?
I know the money raised might not be that much but, every bit helps right?
Just an idea
Regards
Damian

Good idea. Last I heard, the main appeal for our victims has already raised $1 500 000-00! The Canberra Times cartoonist, Geoff Pryor had a brilliant cartoon the other day. It depicted an endless line of Canberrans laden with donations of clothing, bedding, food etc with the caption:"Canberra, the city without a soul." Add that to the generosity of the rest of Oz, and that says it all.

If any Canberra motorsport fans houses burnt in the fires here's what should be done to cheer them up-by bringing back the Canberra 400.
Since the crowd figures were down 10 000-15 000 on the 2001 event, that doesn't mean the event should be scrapped.
I went to all Canberra 400's with my family(Canberra's a 3-3.5 hour drive from were I am) and we tied the event in with a holiday.
I'II be there when it returns.
