Very true and a looonnng way to go.
Have to say Im surprised by the small mistakes made so early in a race like this. Thought it would be more of a calmer approach on such a long race. It is not like a GP where being a 10th of a second quicker in a pitstop can mean a win or not. Or maybe Im wrong on that.

Only 8 hours.....that's the equivalent of 4 F1 G.P. races babck to back. There's normally a bit of drama right up to the last hour, so anything could happen yet.
Can the #007 Aston Martin get itself on the podium ?

Great to see Peugeot 'steal' the win from the newer Audi R15 (after Audi 'stole' the win from the 'faster' Peugeot's last year), made even sweeter by David Brabham being in the winning car.
I wonder if Peugeot will still proceed with their appeal to the FIA against the Audi R15 ?
Now that the race is run and won it's time to consider what 8 - 10 cars to add to my Le Mans collection. I like a mixture of significant cars from the top 10 along with a few others that have interesting shapes and/or liveries and are representative of the GT classes.
At the moment I'm thinking of adding the following :
#9 Peugeot 908 (1st)
#1 Audi R15 (3rd)
#007 Aston Martin LMP1 (4th)
#11 Oreca (5th)
#31 Porsche RS Spyder (10th / 1st LMP2)
#33 Lola Aston Martin Coupe (12th / interesting chrome livery)
#64 Corvette C6-R (black version was more interesting that usual yellow version but DNF)
#75 Porsche 911 GT3 (Chinese dragon livery)
#87 Aston Martin Vantage (first Aston to run in GT2)
#82 Ferrari F430 (GT2 Winner)
What other cars impressed you ?
SteveK51
14-06-2009, 10:18 PM
I've got my eye on Peugeot #9, Aston Lola #007, and Porsche RS #5.
If I were assuming 10 purchases, I would displace the Oreca AIM (but then I have the Highcroft Acura which is quite similar) in favor of the Pescarolo Peugeot. Then I'd take the #92 Dunlop 430 instead of Risi due to the more unique livery.
The Kolles R10 wasn't a bad looker either IMO.

It's disappointing to see that virtually none of the mainstream Australian newspapers have picked up on an Australian winning Le Mans.
Perhaps David Brabham isn't considered Australian because he lives overseas and he's never been a V8 driver !

Perhaps he should have pointed to a large screen and said, speaking of swine flu, you'll never guess who sat next to me on the plane.......... ;)

Isn't Sir Jack the ONLY Australian the papers consider to have raced cars with any success who didn't do V8s?
