These things are amazing! They even have cylinder numbers cast onto the inlet manifold like the original. Where's it all going to end?

Aussie,

I don't know why you posted this thread. Don't you know we Biante collectors don't even care if a bonnet stays up or if there is a horn in the engine bay. Don't you realize we are'nt interested in all this glorius detail :D Or maybe thats why you did post it ;)

The whole 10th scale range that will be coming from Exoto will be great, but sadly I can not afford them. I just have to save my pennies for the 12th scale Aussie car...??

At least I am hoping......

yes, the first of these eagerly anticipated GT40 models will be released soon, but from enqiries i have made it might be best to order directly from the USA.
apart from the 2 66 lemans cars flagged i have seen note there will also be
2 mkIVs from 67 lemans including the winner
and the 68 and 69 winners.

attention prospective purchasers:
if you are interested in these models perhaps we can share some ordering ideas...private message me.

Don't worry Aussie. It was just my attempt at sarcasm. ( Which smiley do you use when trying to be sarcastic.) It was just a gentle poke at the people who come down on the people who suggest an improvement or ask for additional detail to be added to our models.

The GT40, and I know it is 1/10 scale and costs nearly US$600 and no one would expect a 1/18 model @ A$130 - 165 to have anywhere near that level of detail yet , but it does show what is possible in the ever improving world of mass produced models.

Jeez, and I limit myself to ONE 1/43 per month, what are you guys on?

Steve,

Exoto have a great email incentive programme wherebuy they email coupons to collectors each quarter and have delayed payment plans for some models like 4 payments and such the last coupon was for $50.00 US off any purchase so that helps.

They are also starting a subscription programme for the Can am cars of the 60's, one car either 1/43rd or 1/18th every quarter.
If your into great Can am cars this is the way to get them as you are guaranteed the car and you know that your CC is only going to be hit every 3 months.

Otherwise I layby them either here in Oz or in the US and Canada and pace myself I usually have them delivered with some other cars like minichamps or GMP cars to save on freight.

Glenn

PS: This would be a great way to collect cars here in oz as well.

Thanks, Glenn. I only collect 1/43 & stick to cars either made, sold or raced in Aust. As well as road cars, my race collection seems to have a different ethos to most: As many different Aust. cars, in as many different liveries, with as many different Drivers as possible.
So far I've covered 1962 to 2002, with no double-ups, so far. But thanks for the info.

Steve,

Does Oz mean NZ as well because the exoto 1/43rd Can am cars are driven by Kiwi Bruce Mclaren and the GT's by Chris Amon, the winner of the tasman series in 69.

I actualy do own the 16 mm movie "The REPCO- BRABHAM STORIE" made by the marketing department of old REPCO.
I did find this promotial movie and I have had it transferred to BETACAM and made copies on Video (DVD can now also be done) this movie was commisioned to show/run at tradefairs in the late 60-70ish in Europe to promote the sparepart buissnes and the footage is of the Tasmanseries and the development of Sir Jack Brabham plus the Repco facility here in Australia with the test and manufacturing facility's they had then ,It follows the whole circuit around incl NZ. The film/ footage is something else.
This Melbourne Grand Prix week coming up is going to be a celebration of Sir Jack Brabham ,and the beautifull cars that tell the story.

Whats your email FF,
I'd like one on DVD.
I got a Video yesterday at the GT Nationals all about the Geoghagan brothers and Leo was signing them.
It's a Castrol promo video.
The 1955 Redex Trail one I have is a Promo film by Redex as well.

Excuse my ignorance, Glenn, but I've never heard of either of these guys. However, as I like collecting unusual (read not necessarily Commodore or Falcon) cars I'll definitely look into it. Thanks again.

exoto gt40 1:10

this is an email i recieved tonite from a stateside dealer...

"Exoto is taking pre-orders for it already but they show it not being ready till the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2003. In the past they have always been late so I would expect another year before it is actually ready."

so you can relax or you can pay your deposit and get in the queue now
