explaning how to open the doors with out damage...... did every

Nah there was a Strap across the back doors that said 'OPEN FRONT DOORS BEFORE OPENING BACK DOORS TO ENSURE DAMAGE DOESN'T OCCUR' or something along those lines.

Why did you send it back??? I dont understand exactly what you mean.

Hi Maximus

When biante first bought out there very first model
which was the track red xygt . they made them with out
the doors opening and closing .Biante them selves asked
to have them sent back to have them modifyed . Me and
some work mates bought about 8 models..we sent them back and when we got
them back they came with the doors open and close and a
hand writen letter.

I know when I bought my first 2 Track XY's the week they were released they had opening doors.
Bet you wished you kept the ones with the sealed doors on them now :D

I know that Trevor was originally going to release the car sealed but decided against it. How did they modify your models to have opening doors???

Im not sure what they did Maximus i suppose they cut them out
or maybe they gave me a new body shell ...id say they replaced the body or even a whole new model .....what ever they did it was done well

Thats the way it appears, cant see it as being correct, would be a new mould, and if was the case they would be up there with the twinn mirror, but to date have never heard of any Different Track Red.

But the Samples before release had opening doors??? as when i put a deposit down & got the flyer giving to me about a month before release it stated full openings & I would beleive Biante would of look at the samples & not gave them the green light if the backs doors did not open, I got a printout with my car stated about opening the doors.

I beleive Richard can shed some light on this topic.

I remember Trevor stating many years ago that he found a couple of two-door track red GT's at the warehouse.

Maybe these were early prototypes that were sent to retailers to test the "interest" and subsequently sold/given to the public...Biante may have chased them up with the offer to "replace" with a better model (four door). There is no way they were modified (having seen some pics of a two door prototype), binned and new one sent is the only way.

Originally there were 2 GTHO's with only two door openings that I know of. One is still in Bev's collection and the other was given away as a prize in a competition.

No cars were produced with two doors and then modified to 4. It's not possible.

As for some being returned and then replaced. First I've ever heard of it and I did talk to Trevor about the early days and specifically the two door models and he never mentioned it.

Hardly a hand written letter is it?

Looks like all the other notes that were in with all the other early GTHO's

I spy with my little eye something begining with B

I have just heard back from Dave who, along with Trev and Bev was a director of Biante from the beginning of the Australian models program.

'Was just reading the forum about the Red XY.The reason for the note was to let the collectors know to open the front doors first. In the early stages sometimes if you opened the back first it could catch on the front door .I am not sure if Trev modified it halfway thru the red or it was changed on the white. But the note was put in so people didn't open the back first. As it was one of the very first cars that had all doors opening.

As you mentioned the first sample Trev had was only the front 2 doors opening and none got put into production.'

So there you have it straight from the guy who was there at the time. No cars were produced with only front door openings.

pad67 - you said you that you sent it back to get it modified... I am lost too?! Think it has just been worded incorrectly...
