I was wondering if anyone could help me.

I have noticed that Minichamps are releasing a fair few classic F1 cars in 1:18 scale this year. Does anyone have the full list of world championship winning cars from about 1970 until now?. I have all of the Senna cars,Hill and Villeneuve Williams', Hakkinen McLarens etc and want to grab a few more world champions.

If anyone has a list or a site with the list it would be much appreciated if you could pass it on.

Thanks.

And even in that extended list is there any mention of a crumpledore or for that matter a Valliant:D
There was in europe ,when I was a youngster a cartoonmagazine called "PEP" and that had a series of animated striphero's in it and one was "Michael Valliant who drove a racecar called Valliant!!! and Lo and behold when I arrived in good old Australia .........There they were ...Valliant's everywhere!! In Europe there was no knowledge of Holdens,Flagons,Valliants and the like
We got excited with more than 1000cc in an engine never mind 5000 cc ./ a 2ltr motor was a BIG car.
My first racing motorbike was a 50cc Kreidler and dragged a Kwakka 900cc roadbike of for a bet in Francochamps!!
our average speed around the old circuit was almost 200km/hour average! before the snyding remarks are flooding in and that was in 1975/6

GTS ! Most of the World Champion models in 1/18 are available now.Minichamps have produced the most with Exoto and Mattel(Ferrari's) doing the others. What is still missing are the old McLarens...(some are slowly coming out) and the 1980 Alan Jones.1992 Nigel Mansell Williams(you can get a bad Bburgo Mansell model).

At the show in Germany there were actual 1/18 models on show on the Exoto stand , one with all the bodyparts on and one with the engine exposed.
These are a definite to get :) There is also a 1/20 model ,made by Tamyia of this car and it is a VERY nice model indeed

Ferrari Fan! you probably know! so for the rest...Minichamps have announced a WC collection....1950 to Today??? only in 1/43 so far.
Each model will have pacific of that year.. the history of that model
and that years Tech specialities????.Produced in limited numbers.
First two models are the Williams of D Hill and J Villeneuve.
Q Is this the first sign to the Mattel-Ferrari era? If Minichamps plan to 2000-3 ?

The Onyx "La Storia" series was there to provide an "official Ferrari Formula one Collection" and has been stopped and taken over by the barbiedollbrigade ,who brought out 4 more in a similar vain models plus a 2000 W.C. ferrari model packaged the same
Onyx also started a W.C. series with the car and the driver on a podium, all of this in 1/43!
It seems that a serious conflict has broken out between Barbie and P.L.
We as collectors can only benefit from this ,hopefully,as I do not appreciate the lenght of time it has taken for the Lastoria set to come out after being asked to commit to it!!!!!
I am ,in principle a 1/18 collector ,but in order to get a full set ,I did commit.
Great to see at least sometimes a bit of F1 news appearing on this forum.Without input there is NO forum:cool:

Its great to see Minichamps producing a collection of F1 World Champions. But why start with the Damon Hill model. There are already numerous versions of this produced, including several from the Damon Hill collection and the 2 car Williams set. How many more variations of the same car do we need.

Unforunately Minichamps have also chosen to use the new style of box for which they generally charge double the price (eg Alfa 33, Chaparel's, Senna 41/41 etc). Thats great if you display your model in the box, but most of us take the model out, put it in a cabinet and the box goes in the cupboard.

What we want are new models (eg 1950 - 51 Alfa Romeo 158 & 159) not old models in new boxes. Seems at the present time this 'collection' is just another way for Minichamps to squeeze some extra cash out of old moulds.

Why start the WC collection with Hill and Villeneuve?....good question.Could it be that Minichamps are also doing "My First Win"models of........guess who? Wont these be the same model?

Although i hate those comments,I have to sit down and cop it.God only knows why GM doesnt have a F1 team or engine, they are the biggest car manufacturer in the world. We need more F1 teams,Chev,Porsche,VW,when are we going to see those cars on the grid!!!!!!

Ferrari Fan=Have you heard of the Fiorano Mania model shop?

God only knows why GM doesnt have a F1 team

GM does have an F1 team - its called Ferrari. Since 2000 GM has owned 20% of Fiat Auto who in turn own 56% of Ferrari.
As part of the 2000 deal, GM have an option to buy the remaining 80% of Fiat in 2004.

That's why FF drives a Daewoo (also part of the Global GM companY) - its really just a Ferrari with 8 less cylinders.

That made for interesting reading.
I cant say your wrong, because I dont know if its 100% right, but one things for sure,FERRARI FAN will have a nervous breakdown if he reads your comments!!!!!!!!

Lets just say your right JAGER=I dont want a Red Italian GM car running around,I want a Chevrolet racing team, complete with bowtie badges on the engine cover, and engine.

does GM own 20% of FIAT or 20% of its auto division, its a very big diversified company?..
sometime back when GM did get into bed with them i did read that FIAT had a very very very large bankcard bill and the only auto marque that turned a profit was indeed ferrari and it was my belief that it was not included in the GM deal...

i just had a quick look around on the net and that is correct.

GM did not buy into FIAT it merely engineered a stock swap...20%of FIAT for 5% of GM...you could say that FIAT auto now own 5% of GM...however GM do have the right of first refusal on the remainder of FIAT stock...a strategic alliance

"Now, GM owns 20 percent of Fiat Auto and Fiat owns 5.1 percent of GM. Can you imagine those giants squabbling and delaying programs as they try for a common platform strategy? Will this be a forceful, nimble partnership?"..By PETER BROWN
Automotive News / April 03, 2000

"GM will have rights of first refusal of the remaining 80 percent of Fiat Auto if Fiat decides it wants to sell it off down the road. The transaction values all of Fiat Auto at $12 billion, based on GM's closing share price Friday. Fiat Group's other sectors, including Ferrari and Maserati, are not involved in this transaction.

I'm also collecting World Champions in 1/18 scale. If it helps this is what I've got so far;
1971 Stewart Tyrrell (Exoto)
1972 Fittipaldi Lotus (Exoto)
1974 Fittipaldi Mc Laren (Minichamps)
1975 Lauda Ferrari (Exoto)
1976 Hunt Mc Laren (Minichamps)
1979 Scheckter Ferrari (Exoto)
1983 Piquet Brabham (Minichamps)
1988, 90, 91 Mc Laren (Minichamps)
1995 Schumacher Benetton (Minichamps)
1996 Hill Williams (Minichamps)
1997 Villeneuve Williams (Minichamps)
1998, 99 Hakinen Mc Laren (Minichamps)
2000, 01, 02 Schumacher Ferrari (Hot Wheels :( )
I think about the only one that's been made that I'm currently missing is the 1994 Schumacher Benetton. I'll get one one day but they are not cheap!
Exoto have the Mansell car forthcoming and Minichamps are doing the 1984 Lauda, 1985 and 89 Prost cars all in 1/18 scale.

Good Luck!!:)

Wayno, I've toyed with getting the 76 Hunt McLaren but from the photo it looks a bit strange, almost as if it's a 1/43 or 1/64 photo. Something just doesn't seem to be in proportion or something. What does the real model look like?

I have tried to collect all the Ford-powered Formula 1 champions in 1/43 over the years (13 in total and exactly 13 more than GM!!) and have obtained 12 -- a mixture of Minichamps, Onyx, Vitesse, Quartzo and BBR.
The last one -- 1974 McLaren M23 -- has just been released overseas. Anyone know how long it takes before they are released in Oz ?

I have got all the M23's in 1/18 and there is nothing wrong with these models.
Just picked up the 2003 Jaguar, Webber and it is a typical Barbymodel. This will be eclipsed by the MINICHAMPS model in a very big way for sure.

FF, where is the "barbie" Jaguar being sold? I got my "barbie" 2000 Mika McLaren & Schui Ferrari years ago from Toys R Us in Singapore for about $60. IMHO the Ferrari looks pretty good (especially after I added the Marlboro decals) but the the way they did the paintwork on the McLaren was pretty average. Lots of little dots rather than a nice fade from black to grey.
