Biante Model Cars are pleased to announce sponsorship of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, with naming rights of the famous Mt Panorama Skyline ? Biante Skyline.

?The Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 is an iconic event and there isn?t a more recognisable section of the circuit than Skyline,? Biante Model Cars CEO Chris Roche stated today.

?Biante have only recently re-entered the V8 Supercar Diecast Model Market, and there is no better way to let our fans know that we are back, than to support such a fabulous event and famous stretch of bitumen.?

In addition to the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, Biante will also partner with V8 Supercars Australia at the newest addition to the calendar ? the Sydney Telstra 500 ? through the Biante Beasts of Bathurst, a collection of classic Australian race cars and bikes, all with Bathurst heritage.

?Biante Model Cars is not only about the current crop of V8 Supercars, but the cars that made the sport what it is today. The Sydney Telstra 500 will expose a number of people who wouldn?t normally know or understand motorsport, to our sport. To be able to present some of the history of motorsport and Bathurst to them ? and to our regular supporters ? was an opportunity Biante couldn?t let pass,? Mr Roche concluded.

V8 Supercars Australia Chief Operating Officer Shane Howard said Biante was a welcome addition to the growing portfolio of individual events sponsors.

?Biante is a household name in our sport with its amazing replicas of signature racing cars from all eras and most recently that of V8 Supercars,? Mr Howard said.

?To have Biante join us at these premium events is an example of two great companies joining for mutual benefits in exposure and widening the market for both organisations.

?Having the Biante Beasts of Bathurst as one of the many additional entertainment options at the Sydney Telstra 500 is also a great coup for what is going to be a magnificent event.

?We welcome Biante to the family and look forward to a long and successful partnership.?

The 2009 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 will run from October 8 ? 11.

Congratulations Biante, on the decision to sponsor Skyline. I think Peter would be rapped. One question though?

Will you be calling it Brock Skyline with your logo along the crash barriers or will it be Biante Skyline?

It will always be Brock Skyline, in the same way that Forrest Elbow is Forrest Elbow. For the the 1000 however, Supercars sell off sections of the track to sponsors, so for that weekend, its Biante Skyline (as i understand it though, there will still be the words Brock Skyline near the bridge)

I made the comment that the name change to Biante skyline cheesed me off a few weeks ago!!!
I will retrack that comment as it will still have Brock's Skyline on the wall just before the Bridge.
So well done Biante great to see you are supporting the sport:)

I'm with chavez. Over time a lot of people have dropped the 's. David, it was named after a incident involving Jack Forrest and that he left something behind.

With Biante's involvement at Bathurst and later in the year at Sydney, will Biante be having an 'event' in Sydney similar to the one coming up on the Friday night at Bathurst?? (insert begging emoticon here for me who cant make Bathurst but will be in Sydney ;) )

This maybe a silly question but is it Brock skyline or Brock's skyline?

Brock's Skyline ... Forrest's Elbow ... Murray's Corner ... Griffin's Bend

Here's a few shots of Brock's Skyline from the 2008 SuperCheap Auto Bathurst 1000, courtesy of a handy snapper by the name of Craig who was visiting from London last year ...

Er, No. Jack Forrest.

No argument about Jack Forrest. But the corner is known as Forrest's Elbow.

Admittedly it's quite a mouthful to say correctly, which I expect is one reason why commentators struggle with it.
