You will have to excavate the channel 7 carpark to find the old reels.

hahaha

Well, actually, do you think there is the slightest possibilty that Channel 7 STILL has footage that you can purchase or "borrow" of them?

And for those who havnt read my original quesion:

Channel 7 doesn't have any footage, in their wisdom thay used the originals as landfil to build a car park. Rumour has it one gentleman from sydney has copies but he aint sharing. So to answer your original question, no.

Thats pretty sad...

One of the best races in Australian History and no one has it.... Well if anyone has any info on a video or DVD of the whole race could you please contribute to this thread, thanks!

Mixalis,

The Channel Seven Highlights can be found here.

http://colsearch.nfsa.gov.au/nfsa/search/display/d isplay.w3p;adv=;group=;groupequals=;holdingType=;p age=0;parentid=;query=1970%20hardie%20Media%3A%22T ELEVISION%22;querytype=;rec=1;resCount=10

Contact the National Film and Sound Archive to arrange a viewing. They will need to transfer their copy from their preservation tape to another format for viewing which will take a couple of week.

Chavez,

That site looks very interesting but i cannot find the button to search for material which you know how to do. This is because that link you have provided is for the 1970 race, im looking for the 1971 race.

But thank you so much for finding that site for me and if you can find the 1971 race on that site please send me the link.

Thank you very much!

The only '71 TV footage in the archive is Bill Brown's crash and aftermath.

I have seen this - it also includes the last couple of laps (edited)

I think you'll find the vault is Crompton's wardrobe.

The '73 Highlights are here -

It's the Channel 7 footage -via, in the late Evan Green's words - "our back pack camera"
