If anyone was at Bathurst yesterday or is going up make a trip into the supercheap tent right at the main gate. Yesterday HDT Special Vehicles unvailed the bluemeanie, a VE 2009 retro version of the VK Blue Group A SS commodore. It looked stunning and is powered by a supercharged V8 pumping out 350kw. The seats looked awesome, full leather with HDT logos etc, only a four seater, the two rear seats were just like the front passenger and drivers seats. They are saying it will be a limited run of 250.
I picked up a broacher and there is a web site to look at www.bluemeanie.com.au (http://www.bluemeanie.com.au) Have not looked at the site yet but assume it has all the details. Dont know the price but if it comes under $100,000 I will be suprised!!!

Hey mate, check out the "new commodore" thread (last 1 or 2 pages of it)
I think they are saying around $75 000 for it. Apparantly you have to supply a black ve ssv first and they do the rest (Whether its $75k total or extra i dont know).

75K base model Group A, fully optioned with 7litre and super charger, rolls in at $120K.
If you supply your own car, it is around 35K with your car.

I don't really like the supercharger option, being a supposed Group A commodore, the car should have internal engine mods,(cam Rods, piston's, manifold) and drivetrain upgrades like the original's.

Its okay, but a Bluey is a Bluey. Maybe PC could try something original instead.

was thinking the same thing, its good to see HDT back in action but some new HDT creations should be top priority for them i think rather than trying to re create a legend, but those huge aeros would look crazy on a VK imo

they look ordinary.
just a ve painted formula blue, no resemblance to a group a at all, brock & ve shouldnt be used together, he had nothing to do with them.

Yeah, but if he did a new creation with a new name, people would say "what the hell has that got to do with the original cars, it means nothing"
At least he is having a go, looks better than the new Clubby, IMO.

you'd be asking about warranty being handing over the cash

So does a 74 Skoda. I just think he should be moving forward, doesnt seem very innovative. Its just restyling a VE to try to cash in on a legendary part of Aussie motoring, but much better than the current crop of butt ugly HSV's...

Like I said before, I liked it a lot, but I'm HDT mad, I even loved the Brock Samara.

I'm a big fan too Graham, PC has the Brock Experience for history, I just think the cars they make now need to take the fight to HSV without recycling. JMHO.

ill 2nd that, the new hsv's r filth. why are they aiming at the european market? the cars are being sold in aus, we dont like daytime running lights...
hsv should bring back the days were cars were driven on the track on a sunday and sold in showrooms on a monday. take the stock VE SS give it a tune and a body kit

I doubt the supercharger and bilsteins would pass ADR's, I would want a cert saying so. Last thing you would want with a new car is a defect sticker
I reckon the new blue meanie is awesome, forget all the stories guys, if it was more affordable I would buy one in a heartbeat.

I agree with much thats been written however, I'm a FIRM believer in running lights during the Daytime. Whenever I'm driving the Bus or the Ute, I have the lights on.
What I don't agree with is ppl running Ancillary (FogLights) all the time. Most Aust laws state that Ancillary lights should be used for the conditions. The Police should enforce this little used law. When I was driving back from Bathurst I had a Honda CRV running Foglights (100w or better) during the night.
Most annoying as there was NO FOG to deflect the high watt, low spread beam of the Foglight. I let him past, then followed them with lights on High Beam (without my Ancillary130w Driving Lights)
The Driver & I discussed the merits of using Ancillary Lights just because they are there.
He saw my point of view.

The cars are sold in the UK as well;) (Vauxhall VXR8)
Daytime running lights should be made compolsory on cars IMO.....They can prevent accidents....
As for the HDT's.......I'd be interested to see what they could to themselves, without taking design cues from the originals..
