how many is a good question
i have wondered how many myself , being as they were order only if you sent the order form in .

as there was 7712 sets of cars made how many of the plaques were made , as i have heard of people who have the twin set and have now seen the plaque and wished they had ordered one .

so i guess it would be interesting to know :)

Biante said a maximum of 7712 pieces, however as mentioned not everybody ordered one.

But the question is how many DEALERS ordered plaques not wanted by their customers to sell anyway. I see a few plaques being sold separately on sold.com.

It has been mentioned that one dealer cut the order form off one customers twin set brochure and sold it with the coupon detached.

I just told my hobby shop I wanted both and he ordered it without the coupon.

I have mate who didn't get the twin set but may get a plaque anyhow.

It doesn't really matter anyhow, but it is interesting to see how many were made as we have certificates with cars.

I am still surprised at how many twin sets are still in shops !
From all the early hype , I thought that they'd all be long gone.

A dealer told me that he had about 30 cancellations due because people had their names down at a number of shops. This was to make sure they would not miss out. The dealer then ordered to the list , outlayed a whole lot of cash and the buyers pulled out , not happy.

I think that over a 24 mnd. time period the so called slack will dissapeared.
What is the rush anyway ,the more the better or is it a "secret" desire to see that one has made the "purchase of the ......."
In time there will be more people than Modelcars available ,I am thinking of a timeperiod of ,say,10 years.
unless this civilisation is going down!
Modelcollecting has gone from a obscure hobby to a much more respected interest.
To all of you ,Chill, You haven't done your $$.
and if you have ,well stiff (B.)S.
see what has happened to this forum alone and the growth of it, + the models now available and the urgency to get the collection complete! but what then after it!!

Yep i will admit that i ordered from about 3 dealers because i was scared of missing out, guess what,, all 3 came up with the goods, but i didnt back down on my "handshake", trouble is i cant even "give them away" now.
Still, it was my fault, but the way everybody was talking about them, plus the money i have paid on other models.. i couldnt afford to miss out..... Thats life:)

Oh Five I don't think you will loose out. Supply seems to be in excess of demand at this point however it seems to be a volatile market. A bit like the new XE, some sell for high prices while the auction before it doesn't get a bid for $30 less (go figure!).

This one (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3111267837&category=27157) sold for $495 on Friday.

Found this classic (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3111456379&category=27157) TrafficToys auction when I was looking: The old "NO RESERVE" auction that didn't sell due to the reserve not being met! Good one mate!

That Traffictoys clown has had the market flooded from before they were even released. You definitely won't lose out on the Twin Set, especially the plaque. Biante told my dealer only about 2000 were made. Of course, this means there are nearly 6000 sets that will never have the plaque.

Zorak -

I don't think "volatile" fully grasps the craziness that is the Biante market.

I wonder if anyone mistakenly bid on the wrong XE. Yeah, I know they could just look at the picture.

I mean, jeez, all you have to do is scan down the page and you can buy 'em for $165! Craziness.... absolute craziness.

I've said this before, I have NEVER sold a model. However I got the Brock VR because I opened my big mouth and put my name down for one and honoured that agreement.

It is one car I would easily trade or sell.

The bottom line is that it does'nt really matter what they are worth if i have them, but its good to know that IF the needs ever arises that overall I would get my money back.

Its like your house, its good to know that your property is gaining in value or keeping up with the market.

The thing with the latest XE is that there are 2,500 MORE of these made than the first one.

2,500 is lot considering Classic Carlectables latest 1:18 releases are only around the 1000 - 1200 Units for each release.

In a way i just wish there were enough to go around to eliminate this "stockmarket" attitude to collecting models cars.

Anyway...... before we totally get off the subject and start talking about Moto X or something, can any Biante staff members say how many plaques were produced?

Texan.

About 2000 isn't '2000' definate plaques plus your dealer could be spinning you a line.....unless of course you do work for Biante.......if you don't, know for sure why are you even asking me to re-read your response.

As stated by three_o-seven, perhaps admin can give us a definite number of plaques produced to help clear up any misconceptions.

Straight from the horses mouth so to speak.
