Is anyone else out there getting confused or frustrated at getting a Bathurst Winners collection going?
I have some in all scales that Biante have released, however I would like to concentrate on ONE scale, I was going to prefer 1:43 for this DUE TO COSTS AND SPACE and get 1:18 scale for the cars I really liked.
However, with the release of the 4 car HRT set last year that means the Bathurst winner was released in that set and not separately, the other is issue who has licences to make what?
With the release of those fantastic 1:64 scales they look a great alternative, however will it end with some made and some not?
Will we, the collectors end up with a different brand and scale to get all these cars.
So far it looks like a mixed bag of 1:64s, 1:43s and 1:18s for me, some collectors may be happy with this, some not.
WHATS YOUR OPINION?
I am going to collect all 1/64 bathurst winners, and then for the ones I really like get them in 1/18.

I think the only solution to your dilemma is to collect the scale you desire and just be Patient for the models to be released.
Then apply popularity preasure to Biante ie: Polls & Threads to produce the models that haven't been released yet.
I think that is how the XA Coupe came to be and hence other models to be. No point trying to sell something that doesn't sell.
Biante has already released the XC in Option 97 Pack in race version but I hope they bring the road version out this year.

Nick....
Biante released the 1971 Moffat XY GTHO in 1998 in 1/18 scale, this is car 65E and isnt part of the Moffat collection.
The 1970 Moffat XW GTHO was the first official car in the Moffat collection sporting the race number 64E also in 1/18.

I was at a Holden Dealer last week where I buy my Holden models. He gave me a list of Biante releases untill June. The Bond/Roberts Monaro is due about April. My Ford dealer didn't give me a list but is taking orders for the 91 Skaife/ Richards Nissan GTR. Two more to the collection coming soon.
hey rascot do u reckon u could post the list?
thanks

Looking at other colelctions it is generally very rare for one manufacturer to make all the models required for a particular collection.
I have approx 50 Le Mans winners, and while I'd like them all to be made by Minichamps, the reality is Minichamps have only made 14 (I think) winners. For the rest I've had to rely on Quartzo, IXO, Max, Trofeu, Spark, Bang and Best - but this variety adds to the fun of collecting. F1 collectors have a similar problem - Minichamps only produced approx 10 of the last 50 world champions with others coming from Onyx, Quartzo, Brumm etc.
Even in these popular international series collectors are waiting for numerous winners to be released. The fact that Biante is dedicated to releasing so many Bathurst cars should be applauded. However the likelihood is it will take many years for a full set of Bathurst winners to be produced.

I also think Biante do a fantastic job in making these models available to us so we shouldn't complain but you have highlighted something to me.
I have been collecting the Bathurst Winning Commodores in 1:43rd scale and most of these are CC's. I will be getting the new Skaife/Richards car in 1:43rd and have just realised that to get the Skaife/Longhurst car, I would have to get the 4 car set as this car wasn't released separately. I don't really want to pay the exhorbitant prices being asked on auction sites just to get one car and I already have the standard Skaife & Bright cars in the set.

I have all the holden bathurst winners from the1968 Monaro made by trax through to the VX HRT commodore for 2002. It took a long time to find them all but you can get them all in 1/43 scale.

Pedro -- I have all the FORD winners (1962 XL Falcon to 1998 EL Falcon), also in 1/43, so between us we have the complete history :)
Unfortunately, your collection is bigger than mine :(

I am concentrating on 1:18 scale Bathurst winners... but missing the 2 moffat cars 70 & 71 :( "maybe one day I will get them..." No point in starting on 1:43s also...the top 3 finishes in the ATCC is enough in that scale.
The 1:43s look great when lined up but the detail on the 1:18s is awesome plus if BIANTE release a Bathurst winner each month or so (in 1:18) it is not too hard on the wallet.
Who knows if they will release all of the Bathurst winners in 1:64? I guess only Admin could answer this? If they are then it would be a good collection to have in that scale also.

V8SS, I have two of these sets still in tissue paper unopened. Message me if you are interested. Price will be reasonable & less than original price....

Jager, you clearly know about Le Mans cars - do you know what Minichamps will be making in 1:18 scale - Porsche 956/962-wise?

Hi Nick
Most of my interest lies with 1/43 models, and the lack of 956 / 962 variations is frustrating (there are no Le Mans versions amongst the 2003 releases announced so far - only a couple of short tail DRM cars).
With the 1/18 I'm only aware of the Kenwood car that has already been released and the 'planned' issue of the '83 Rothmans car and '86 'Stars & Stripes'. However the cigarette advertising issue will be difficult to get around and my personal feeling is that the Rothmans car will be put in the 'too hard' basket and won't see the light of day (Admin probably knows more than I do on this so I stand to be corrected).
The other dilema for Minichamps is that Eagle Collectibles have announced plans to do the Porsche 962 with 5 Le Mans versions. The quality of their 1/43 models is very good (check out their '76 Porsche 934 Turbo - its stunning, even has real fabric seatbelts and only US$ 14 each !). If the 1/18's are as good value as the 1/43 it will be interesting to see how they compare with Minichamps.

You were obviously exactly the right person to ask, Jager! I've seen some good 1:43s, but I only collect 1:18, so it's even more frustrating. The Ickx/Bell etc cars are such classics that it seems crazy to not model them, but Rothmans is a dirty word.....
I have the Kenwood car and it is superb, so I'll just have to be patient and see what gets released. Same with the Group B cars - several 1:43, but no 1:18 yet. I live in hope....
