This news will please Drag Race fans and fans or motorkhanas. Andra (Australian National Drag Racing Association) and their consultancy team have been actively engaged in negotiations with the Victorian Government with the aim to construct a new ANDRA Championship Drag Racing facility.

The track planned will be Australia's first 4 lane Drag Strip that will also accommodate a drift track come driver training course.

They have created a website http://www.motorvatemelbourne.com/index.html were you can sign a petition to be presented to the Vic Gov, there are drawings and plans etc.

I know most here are not fans of drag racing, but I do know of a few.

still think it needs to be built of the other side of melbourne down the peninsula like was the original plans yrs ago theres also a natural sound break b4 you get anywhere anyones house just a nice undeveloped area next to crown land

having it where its currently proposed to be isnt going to change things like there after the hwy (princes / dandenong road) will still become a makeshift drag strip every friday saturday as people wont want to travel that far from where they already concidder is a good open hwy drag strip (dangerous as it may be)

unfortinatly when it finaly get the go ahead it will be 4-5 years off, but at least its getting closer.
