Hi guys, thought i'd give this a new thread as i did a search and couldn't find any info. It's common for the early Biante 1:18 Monaros to have a bent aerial/antenna, although i've been lucky to get straight ones until now.

I have one with a bent or curving aerial. Car hasn't been displayed, but the tissue from the box has been sitting on the aerial since new, so it has a bend in it.

I was wondering if anyone knows if i could fix this as it's just made out of plastic i think? And they're very soft and flexible. Any ideas?

Cheers,

Chris

i wish the Biante GT's were as soft and flexible,

Chris, my Monza blue HT aerial was bent like banana when i got it, i just used a heat gun on a very low temp and pushed it up back into place, hasn't moved since.

Thanks for the suggestion Daniel, now to locate a heat gun:D.

A bannana is exactly what mine is shaped like at the moment:p

now to locate a heat gun:D.

just make sure you stay away from the paint;)....once your satisfied with the aerial's postion, hold a wet cloth over it to cool it off.

Cool, it won't melt the aerial at all will it?

If you can't get a Heat gun, get a Hair Dryer & keep it a reasonable distance & hold the aeriel in your fingers while straightening

imo a hair dryer would be a better option aswell might take alittle longer but a heat gun can cause damage quick.

I've also hear you can just use boiling water. Boil a kettle, pour the boiling water into a cup or bowl, then turn your model over and dip the aerial into the boiling water for a minute or two then remove and straighten into shape.

The front strut tower brace on my Slick 50 RX7 was bent, so I just used the hair dryer on it for maybe 15 secs & straightened it & ran the tap water over it & fixed it.

I must have bent it when i was trying to put the Chev into it to make a Dave McGuiness version :p

Thanks very much for the suggestions guys. Haven't heard any silly ones yet, which is a suprise.:p:p

Will probably try with the hair dryer or boiling water first, and hopefully that will work and i won't have to move onto the heat gun.

Thanks again:)

I always go for the kettle to help straighten plastic items. I've even used it on a plastic Car Park Ticket that had been left in the sun for a short time. It flopped around like a fish and had to be laid on a flat surface to cool. LOL
In most cases, when immursed in hot water, you can actually see the item returning to its original shape.
However, it will not fix a plastic item that has been bend to the point of stressing the plastic.

Speaking of aerials for the monaro's, does anyone have a spare? I need one.

Hey mate, maybe email the Biante guys as they probably have some spares, with the release of the Sebring Orange HT not too long ago and the Lakeside HG..

I used a hair dryer on the Larry Perkins/Russell Ingall figurines that don't always stand up ... Just play the hair dryer around the back of the knees till good and warn, bend a little and hold into position as it cools, repeat till he stands on his own.

I'm reluctant to invert my models ver hot water as the moisture/steam does go inside.

A hairdryer works wonders. Use it at a distace until the aerial(s) are very soft and flexible. Grip the end with a pair of tweezers and pull gently to straighten. Use an ice cube wraped in one layer of cloth, tissue or Chux to cool it quickly while maintaining gentle upwards force on the aerial.

Ive had ones shaped like question marks and this has worked.
