Off to the States after Christmas for a months holiday and thanks to the adventures of 'Rev', Fredie Falcon (my wife named him) is also making the trip!
http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/1426/ff1resize. jpg
Hopefully catch him lurking about in front of some iconic locations.
http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/5662/ff4resize.jp g
Will also be looking for some American muscle. Has anyone got some tips on makes, shops or anything?
Cheers

Flying into New York on the 28th of December for 5 days, then a couple of days in Washington. We fly down to Orlando where we pick up a campervan and drive to LA, covering states such as Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and finally, Califournia.
Its not Rev pitcrew its a rev inspired copy of him
Yup, unashamedly a direct rip off
Nope it's Rev's Tasmanian cousin
Fred takes offence to that!!!
So, if anyone has any advise on what makes of models to look out for or favorite shop. Let me know.

Don't have any model shops for you, however a few car museums you may want to check out
Don Garlits Museum - Ocala FL
http://www.garlits.com/
The NASCAR Museum/Theme Park/whatever at Daytona
Chaparral Race cars
http://www.petroleummuseum.org/visitorinfo.html
Once you hit California there are plenty of Museums etc but a couple of standouts include
The Nethercutt Collection - more than just cars for the Mrs

The Petersen

Fred is a Rev knock off that I found too cheap to knock back.
Seeing the DNA is so close to Rev(after the decals were rubbed off) I included him in a holiday arounded the states with us (she thinks I'm mad but, she knew that before she married me).
So, Fred didn't trust me with a skinfull and stayed behind on new years eve but, did cop his first 'bumper sticker'.
This is from our first day in a little park opposite the World Trade Centre site.

Here's one I would love to have a bid on !!

Gooding and Co have it estimated at 140 - 180K which I reckon is quite reasonable when compared to say Aussie ATCC or Group C cars and considering the exchange rate at the moment I could almost say that its a bargain ! ... The camaro looks to be genuine however it appears to be not exactly 100% period with some changes to gearbox and engine - the yanks like to do this stuff whereas Aussies seem to be sticklers for total originality ... nevertheless it seems to have the right provenance ... Unfortunately my wife would have my guts for garters if I bought it as I am knee deep into the rebuild of my mustang - I'll have a drool over it though !!

And not a computer in sight, I think your turning to the light Andrew.
I started out loving muscle cars - uncle has an XW GT, I avidly read Street Machine, thought V8s were the be-all and end-all of performance. I wanted a Mustang badly.
Then I opened my eyes and saw that the performance world extends beyond Aussie or American muscle, V8s and rear wheel drive. I still like muscle cars but not the boorish attitude that they sometimes attract. I guess the hi-tech GT-R is my repudiation of that attitude (then I get stuck with idiot ricers wrecking it for the Japanese tech crowd as well.....)
However, this Camaro is absolutely beautiful. And as Buffalo said, compared to the equivalent prices going for Aussie race cars with provenance and success, this is almost a bargain (relatively speaking of course).

Here's a few to get you started Luke :
http://www.petersen.org/ (http://www.petersen.org/) - in LA - cool car museum
http://socalspeedshopla.com/ (http://socalspeedshopla.com/) - LA is in the heart of the Southern California Hotrod land ... Should be some other cool hotrod places.
http://www.autoclubspeedway.com/ (http://www.autoclubspeedway.com/) Fontana Racetrack - a monster of a track just outside LA - check events - looks like some Drag Racing on in September
http://www.shelbyautos.com/ (http://www.shelbyautos.com/) - Las Vegas - This would be worth a visit and its just near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
http://www.harrahsautomobilecollection.com/index.h tml (http://www.harrahsautomobilecollection.com/index. html) - Harrah's Casino - Vegas
http://www.lvms.com/ (http://www.lvms.com/) - Las Vegas Motor Speedway - huge track - seating for over 100,000 !! Should be some racing there and they have an NHRA drag strip out the back which could have some racing on - would be cool to see Top Fuel and Funny Cars in the USA !!
Lots of other non-motoring stuff to get into trouble with in Vegas :D !!
Too bad you weren't in Califiornia a bit earlier - you could have come to the Annual Shelby Convention with me - It'll be a massive collection of Mustangs, Cobra's, GT40's :D at Infineon Raceway / Sears Point ( Just north of San Francisco ) on August 27th - 29th !
