I thought I had a hot wheels of that car Maq when I was little but I'm probably wrong.
current award - the ssangyong stavic
i dont know what the designers were thinking. i mean look at it - there is not one angle at which this car can be viewed where it doesnt burn the hairs in your nose.
i like the c d and e pillars. its as if they took a prius, grafted a chrysler grille onto the front, welded a station wagon back onto it then selected zoom 15% on their design software to blow the car up in every dimension.

Definately the stavic is the worst car ever.
Knowing some guys from Uni who are designers, they have declared the stavic looks like it was designed by a bunch of drunken 18 year olds with no talent whatsoever.

yes, but when you consider that RMIT students designed their new building in Swanston St, the opinions of Uni students, doesn't carry much weight.

Wow! What a bunch of design shop rejects. The "Kyron" isnt too bad except that the back looks like its upside down. Who would really go out and by one of these Ssanyong things? What were thier sales figures like last year? About 17 in total across the whole range nationwide?
Whats with that Mercedes in the first link? Something sticking out the rear and all sorts off odd stuff going on there. Is it an Alpine audio concept car is it? I didnt think they smoked crack at Mercedes or Alpine.
Main contenders are the Taurus above, the AU Falcon, the Sanyong lineup and the WRX with the round headlights I reckon. Whoever signed off on that one was drunk I think...

No arguments, not required :D, but the main Designers for the VE Commodore, Sportwagon, Monaro, Efigy and Coupe 60 all came from RMIT ;)

Just like a Simpson's episode when Homer's long lost brother is an executive for a car company.
He asks Homer to design and ordinary man's car. Homer develops the most hideous car and when it is unveiled there is a big gasp.
Needless to say Homer's brother lost his job!

Just like a Simpson's episode when Homer's long lost brother is an executive for a car company.
He asks Homer to design and ordinary man's car. Homer develops the most hideous car and when it is unveiled there is a big gasp.
Needless to say Homer's brother lost his job!

Wow! What a bunch of design shop rejects. The "Kyron" isnt too bad except that the back looks like its upside down. Who would really go out and by one of these Ssanyong things? What were thier sales figures like last year? About 17 in total across the whole range nationwide?
I've seen a few of those Ssanyong Stavic (the van thingy) used as Taxi's here in QLD....as for publicly owned ones.....I've seen one or two Kyrons and thats it
Was never a fan of these aquaducks either..
I actually don't mind the "frog" Citroën .......quite an advanced car for it's day...

Chrysler Sebring Coupe/Convertable. One parked outside work atm. Its so tall due to the folding roof that the boot looks to be about 300mm taller than the boot of the VN parked next to it, and that just makes it look too narrow. The 'styling' is just wrong in every direction. A new candidate for the Tribeca award?

Why does it have a toilet seat in the grille?
back in those days people travelled a lot, went on lots of picnics, spent holidays cruising the countryside, and roadside amenities were not up to the bloody amazing standard that they are now, but with this car press 1 button and up pops the seat from the grill and for that extra bit of privacy the bonnet is big enough to block a meteorite...
true story! i swear! :)

Definately the stavic is the worst car ever.
Knowing some guys from Uni who are designers, they have declared the stavic looks like it was designed by a bunch of drunken 18 year olds with no talent whatsoever.
Reminds me of the car Homer Simpson designed for his Brother .

It must be a great car to drive - because when you are in it you don't have to look at it. It looks like a Kia that has had a "Spanline" aluminium extension rivetted on to the back of it.

I think I have to put my hand up for owning something that has been hit with the ugly stick.
Althought other projects have been put on the back burner "FUGLY" is taking all my hard earn coin at the moment.
Once its has had a full resto, it will become a 2-3 ton Race Transporter. Perfect for vintage bike runs.
1958 Mercedes 319
A picture of it in the shop

A 319 tarted up with some lip stick. This will what it will look like in the future.

First of all, I blame Premium Classixxs for making serveral versions on the 319 in 1:43. Had to go the 1:1 scale

Mercedes Germany still makes lots of genuine parts for the vintage scene.
The truck internals, so to speak share parts from many 1950's Mercs ( W163 w180 etc even 190sl's). The cost of these parts are not that bad.
Although, the truck also has its own part numbers, and only 2 places in Germany sell them. The prices varies from how far you bend forward and squint your eyes.
How many are in OZ? Possilbe all up 20 in different formats. ( tray / van / coach)

She's not a bad ole girl for being over 50 years old.
Althought the diesel has a whopping 20hp, it might be quicker walking to shops or hardware;):D

I saw a Great Wall Ute today. If the front of a car is a face then this one has been sucking on a lemon. Awful looking thing.

if it looked like an S-class, then it is the Ssangyong Chairman. They bought the rights to the car from Mercedes Benz. They uglied up the front of the car.

Question.
What happens when the Chinese steal the design of an okay looking Toyota small car and add their own ideas?

I guess now that people (and manufacturers) are annoyed with them for blatantly ripping off other manufacturers designs....they've got to change them a bit:rolleyes:

Waste of a good can of petrol.
I rather liked the Studebaker Commander. I like Raymond Loewy's designs, actually.
Sort of late Art-deco.
