Take a look at this....
Is this the future of open-wheel racing ?
The IRL are working towards a new car from 2011, and several manufacturers have put up proposals.
The most radical is this Delta Wing proposal unveiled in Chicago yesterday. It has serious backing too - Ganassi, Penske, Andretti, etc are all backers of the prototype.

Swift have also come up with something a bit different :

I heard it was 2012,
i don't know about the delta wing, narrow front track, how well would it turn especially on road courses? But I guess with all them top teams they know what they are doing plus the lead design used to crack out some fantastic handling cars at Lola.
Swift and dallara's propsal look kinda like a cross between a champ car and a current irl car, slightly futuristic but not that far removed from what they have now.
Whatever they do they need to get more chassis in the series like in the good ole days of open wheel racing.

Anyone on the forum who has little boys would surely have seen the movie Speedracer. Well that second design looks exactly like a car out of that movie, looks like the cars in that film are coming to life LOL. I thought it was a kids show, didn't realise it was a documentary of the future!!

Definitely too much Batman.
The SR71 Blackbird comes to mind on the Delta Wing and that thing is definately built for speed

I was going to mention turning corners. That thing looks fast in straight line but on a race track? Back to the drawing boards fells:D

My first thoughts were along the lines of "what have they done here".. but i gotta admit it is growing on me.
Indycar needs to do something radical to turn it all around, no reason why this can't be it
