Full race video

G'day to all, here's my first post...interested in obtaining full race video of 1978 and/or '79 Bathurst. Any advice on contacts would be appreciated. Thanx.

This subject has been discussed before, and as I recall nobody came up with a source for a commercially available video of the pre-eighties Bathurst races, other than the well known highlights compilation sets.

As I recall, individual race highlight videos commenced with the 1982 Bathurst race, but are rare on the ground. Sometimes you get lucky with 'finds' in the sport category of video rental outlets.

Otherwise, annual highlight videos were more commonly available for the Group A races and were marketed by FESTIVAL VIDEO, a division of Festival Records Pty Ltd, with copyright held by the AUSTRALIAN TELEVISION NETWORK (aka Channel Seven).
Festival also produced the aformentioned compilation videos which are now also available on DVD.

Thanks Graeme, yep, I know about the boxed set of DVD's and thought that that'd be the "be all and end all" of this subject...I'll leave this thread open for all to read and maybe.....just maybe, someone's old man's best mate's brother-in-law's mate down the pub might know of someone's old man who taped the race way back when...it's a big ask, but you never know.

It goes against the grain helping a holden man, but if you go to Conrod.com.au, forums and search back about a month ago the editor of one of the car mags was selling full videos of assorted races. Dont know if he went that far back, but I am going to get some from the 80's so try your luck mate.

I'm after copies of every telecast from 1980 to 1985, if anyone has them, and would like to arrange something!!
I nearly completed a deal with a fellow from NSW for the 1983 to 1985 races, but I have unfortunately lost his details incase he happens to read this!!!
