Minichamps have just announced they will be making the 1987 Bathurst 'winning' Texaco Sierra in 1:43 for Q3, 2003 release.
Seems that no-one told our friends in Europe the Sierra had been disqualified !
Unlike the 1:18 DJR Sierra, it also seems this model might be available for worldwide release by Minichamps rather than just being an Australian release.

As I recall, it was both Texaco Sierras (1st & 2nd) that were disqualified, thereby handing Brocky his last Bathurst victory, SIX months later. It'll be interesting to see how much better a job Minichamps does than the Trax (subbed to Trofeu) effort, which wasn't exactly woeful, but wasn't great, either.
Will the other Texico Sierra driven the the 2 Klaus's(Ludzig and Niedzwick) be made by Minichamps as well.
That way if Brocky's number 10 87 winner was done in 1/43 we'd have the pre-disquailication podium set.
If the 2 1987 Nissans were made in 1/43(Seton/Bowe #30 and Fury/Sheild #15) we'd have a post Sierra disqualification set.

I don't think Minichamps have plans to do the second place car and would expect only limited demand for such a model. However they will do other versions of the Texaco cars from Europe (such as the Nurburgring) where these cars dominated.

The Biante RS500 DJR will be VERY hard to surpass as a model!
Jager ; do you have a digi pic of my steamer and if so could/would you be so kind as to post the pic here on this forum as to be able for a lot of forummers to get an idea what a diverse range of vehicles there are available to the diecast collectors!
I thank you up front for your efford

I didn't know Minichamps were going to make a Peter Brock Commodore !!!!!:D
I just hope they get the facts right & don't try to sell it as a Bathurst winners car/set.
We all know who won the 87 Bathurst race & he only needed 2 cars to do it, be he never needed to cheat !!!
cheers.:D

I dont know where you saw the listing but the correct desrciption is "1st Place Bathurst 1987 disq." Which is totally correct in all respects in the placing of the car in the results sheet and how the model is to be described by PMA.
"disq' standing for Disqualified.

Yea, but admin don't you think that it is a bit underhanded advertising ploy when they advertise a model for finishing 1st, when it was actually disqualifyed. I wonder how big the letters disq are when the model is released.
It kind of reminds me of Citroen when last year at the Rally of Monaco they were disqualifyed. But after the race they still advertised their car as winning. I think from memory that they were threatened by the fia because of advertising untrue results.
food for thought.
cheers.:D

Thanks for the clarification, but it seems the disqualifiaction has been overlooked by a number of sources who are probably not familiar with the race or the final outcome. I received my information from the North American Minichamps distributor who described the model as :-
"Ford Sierra RS500 'Texaco' Team Eggenberger Soper Dieudonne 1st Place James Hardie 1000 WTC Bathurst 1987"
Its a pretty comprehensive description just missing that one little word - "Disq".

A word of caution regarding Minichamps 1/18 1987 Ludwig Texaco Sierra from Nurburgring race: STAY AWAY FROM IT.
This particular release suffers from incredibly poorly applied decals. Myself and a buddy of mine ordered them from different retailers and both models came with lifting and chipped decals all over the place. It looks like these models were put in the box before the decals were allowed to dry and set into place.

It was 2002 Brchi17, Citreon changed Loeb's tyres illegally in Parc Ferme and were caught, the organisers chose to let him continue under appeal (totally against the rules) and so Makinen slowed down having been told that he would win the Rally (i believe a 2 min penalty was to be impossed on LOeb- kinda like the 5 min for Murphy, either Disqualify them or do nothing anywho) at the end Loeb celebrated the win, citroen celebrated the win, makinen and subaru were furious, sainz was ropable and the FIA were ready to come down heavily on Citroen who then went and advertised that they had won the rally for the following 2 weeks. They then withdrew their appeal after gaining maximum publicity, cause they didn't want to upset other teams or get them off-side (here's one supporter who hates them for it) Makinen was given the win, but his record equaling, 24th and final win was marred by pointless citroen c**p. He received the trophey at the start of the swedish rally but the moment was lost.
Thats what happened, for those interested

Your right tumbo it was 2002 & you would have noticed that I wrote that post in March of 2003 ;) It was such a shame that Tommi's fantastic win was masked in a sea of Citroen’s misleading advertising
cheers. :D

Whoops my bad  oh well. I still think that the way Loeb carried on back then helped show the arrogance of the French. Citroen didn't help it either  . Oh well they're won their world titles and they're leaving at the end of next yr so i guess there isn't much to complain about- just wish the WRC wasn't leaving w/ them
