How do you know they haven't been around the clock a few times, or replaced, really hard to verify unless the kms where documented throughout the cars life.

Yeh true, but just assuming looking at the condition of the cars, and the fact that it's one serious collector, probably had them all since new..
I'll have the HQ and the 427:)

If you clik the link put on by "vywgn" at post No.4, the answer would appear to be 'yes', at $920,000. Given it's such an impressive set of cars (all very low, or at least well below average, mileage and all in beautiful condition), I wonder what the whole collection set him back ? Without knowing too much about the bloke, I gotta say I feel sorry for him - imagine building a collection like that, and then losing it. Be interesting to see what they all go for.

Thanks for posting the estimates.....be interesting to see how they tally with the final sale prices; looks like he/they will take a bath on the 427; and if I had a spare $100k, I wouldn't mind picking up the HX LE and the Coupe 4. Still, feel sorry for the bloke losing his collection.
Is anybody on this forum attending the auction tonight? And if so, could they please post the sale results on this thread? Would be greatly appreciated.

As its a Pickles Auction, you can go on-line and view the Auction live over the internet. I've only participated in Pickles Auctions in person, so I don't know how much time is involved to set yourself up on the computer. But if you want to try, go back to the first post on this thread, click on the link to Pickles, and follow the links to become an on-line observer and hear the Auction. If you do, you could then post your experience on here, as well as the results.

I would have thought that $350k - $500k was the Auctioneers estimate of the range in which it will sell, rather than a starting price. Having said that, I would think it will be higher than $500k, but tonight will tell - I assume they are unreserved. Also, pre-Auction estimates, while often close to the final result, can also occasionally wildly differ. A recent result, that springs to mind, was for a 250 Cal Spyder REPLICA at $50k - $65k, and it made $131k ! And quite often lots are passed-in, not even reaching their reserve. As we know, depends who is bidding on the night. Goodluck to them - its outta my price range, even at the lower end !

Apparently before the auction, the guy turned down $3 million for the HRT 427!!! Considering the only other one sold for $920,000, that's a pretty good offer. I wonder how much it will fetch in the auction, considering the offers he's getting. That would have to be my dream car! (How cool would a 1:18 be :))

if this is true, then it makes a mockery of the claim that the owner knocked back an offer of $3 million. which i never really believed anyway.

Thanks for posting the results "onfire", very interesting. Probably would have been an interesting Auction to attend. Just one tiny thing.....the Coupe4 result seems to have fallen off it's perch.....any chance you could post it ? Thanks again.

I'm amazed at how close to the mark the estimates were on nearly every car.
The only huge variation is the Torana ex race car which was expected to go for mid teens and pulled $38K. Anybody know what model it is, what class it raced in, who drove it, etc.?
The BA cobra sedan and ute are cheap. Not long after release the sedan was pulling $70G often
I reckon the GTS-R pulled big dollars.
$90,000 is a lot of coin.

Cheers! Thanks for responding. No biggie, I just kinda like the Coupe 4 look - like to keep an eye on the market - you never know, one day.........; Like the GTS-R as well, but their prices have held up pretty well over the years.

I think the bargain there is the BF Cobra, I went and saw the cars, it was the pick of the bunch and I am not even a Ford fan. It was still brand new I guess, it was faultless. 427 looked good as well but could see ripples in the panels. I remember a few year back at the muscle car masters it was a windy day and a huge umbrella that covers tables and chairs blew on it and hit it pretty hard. Maybe thats where the ripply panels came from, particularly the bonnet.

You may be right, but aren't some of its panels Carbon Fibre ? Maybe as one-of panels (or 2, to be exact), they are less than perfect ?? Mind you, if I had the dough, I'd give it a good home. It is red (& fast) afterall !

The GTS-R is now back on the market, now we can see how it was bought for at Auction, have a look at how much they want for it now.

Well, that's just strange. If you were in the market for just such a car, why would you go to them and pay $225k ( or something close to it with a haggle ), when you could have gone to the Auction and been in the hunt at around $86k upward ? Pristine example of a very desirable and rare car, but.....phew, yeah, that's a hellava price hike !!
gab73
21-06-2010, 02:54 PM
Who in there right mind would pay 225k for that car. Even the gunuine Bathurst Winners 95/97 could barely attract that kind of $$$

For that sort of money you can get your hands on a genuine group A or group C car like DJ's Mustang and they are much more unique.
