Interesting find - Old XU1 pics

Found an old magazine from 1977 called "CRASH" Auto Action. It is all black and white but has some good pics of the muscle car racing era. Also a few pics of obscure XU1's I haven't seen before.

One pic I noticed was of a HDT GTR XU1 with a set of "P" plates on the back.

Another pic has Peter Brock in a HDT XU1 but is has the number 11 on the door.

The magazine has pics of Toranas, Chargers, GT's, Moffats Mustangs etc from Eastern Creek, Wanneroo, Oran Park, Calder, Amaroo, Phillip Island etc and features drivers like Brock, Moffat, Bo Seton, Murray Carter, John French etc.

Found the mag in the bottom of a box at home. Must be my Dads because I wasn't around in 1977.

I don't know how to get pics to come up straight away. It normally takes a little while for them to be approved. Sorry.

You can always open a photobucket acoount and link from there. That way the photos appear instantly and don't require a mod to approve them. Just if you go that way, limit the size of the photo.

I would be sticking that Mag in the cabinet alongside some models of the same era that is a very cool find :)

That's Colin Bond's rally team mate from the early 70's HDT, Peter Lang.

From what I can read on the scanned image, the magazine text says Peter Lang tried his hand at circuit racing for a day ... and never returned !

There were more than a few reasons for why he never retured and lack of talent was'nt one of them ;) He did get in strife for lacking the correct licence...
