I must admit I am very disapointed about this, but at the end of the day we have to put up with the decisions from the people of whom are elected.

I just hope the likes of channel 9 & 10 do not forget about us at home & maintain the telecasts of things like the World Cup & the opening round of the V8 Supercar championship.

I also hope they (television networks) are responsible in what they broadcast during children's viewing hours after some of the images from Sept 11 that they (children) were able to view.

We had so many children who arrived home on their own to see such graphic images, which trumatised so many of them.

Unfortunately some young children do not hold the abality to just turn off & they surely won't be able to change to another channel if the tv channels all repeat their blanket coverage (as with past events) of this unfortunate event.

I just hope on days like today, we all value our safety a little more. Perhaps we should say a prair for all of the young men & women who are making sure we can rest easy at night.

Brchi, I couldn't agree more. My Dad was in Vietnam & I was just old enough to know that Daddy was away for a long time & Mum had to cope with all 3 of us at the other end of the country from all her family & friends.
The TV thing is a real worry. At S11 ABC even went over all the kids programs with their telecast. Fortunately, our kids were/are young enough (4,2 & 5 months) to completely shield from this sort of thing, even if this means "Thomas" & "Bananas" videos all morning!
As a RAAF brat I really feel for all the Families of our Service-People.

I do not like this war either.

It takes alot of spirit to serve your country. I agree with all your comments on this...May god be with our servicemen/women and their families.

Steve, another RAAF brat here as well. Ever get to Butterworth?

It is hard on the kids when the old man is away and I dont remember the 60's as I was born right at the end but dad was away from home.

Lets us remember those O/S and hope they are home soon and safe.

And there is nothing wrong with bananas, I sit and watch it with the kids all the time.

Mustang, yeah, we were over there, but I was only 18 months or so! My little brother was actually born in Malaysia, we call him the little Noggy. Mum only just made the cutoff with the pregnancy to accompany Dad OS. Travel was via ship in those days. Imagine that, a 3yo Daughter, 18 month Baby & 5 months pregnant, on board ship! Apparently, it was Italian, which gave my Dad a life-long aversion to Italian food!

Steve, yeah I went to school over there. We went over in 76 and from I remember people talking about taking the cruise option. We flew Qantas 707 over and RAAF 707 on the way back.

I am sure your brother would be happy with being called little Noggy. Better than Nigel I guess.

Oh the joys of a service family. A different school every few years, new friends and to travel to places such as Laverton, Wagga Wagga, Darwin, Edinburgh, Malaysia, Sydney.

Mustang, let me see, 3 Primary Schools, 3 High Schools & 1 College. My Big Sister beats me by a couple of schools.
From when I was born we were posted to:Brisbane, Malaysia, Brisbane, Sale (Vic.), Fairbairn (ACT), Richmond (NSW), & Wagga Wagga (NSW) where Dad retired after his 20 & we moved to Canberra in late '77. Been here ever since except for a year in Brisbane in '88.
We always asked Mum if she brought the right Baby home from Hospital, but she says that as the only other one there was black, she must've got it right!
